The food in general was ok and prices acceptable. What really is surprising is the fact that the Bangladeshi waiters are substandard in their service with pathetic communication and not bothered attitude. The management needs to work on this, big time
We arrived in George Town very late. We found this - I think Indian restaurant open 7/24. We have ordained delicious-looking rice with crab, "baby" squid and octopus, some kind of giblets (eggs? But whose ... :) ), pasta with shrimp and some suspicious canned...drink. All this cost about the US $ 10The food was great. The canned drink was awful. Could not be drunken. We will come back for sureMore
The good point is that they have roti canai, coconut and tomato chutneys (more like a tomato very concentrated puree at this place) any time of the day while this dish is traditionally only served in the morning and from late afternoon at other places,...one of the cheapeast option to eat there and I do like their taste. I went there so many times to eat that with their excellent teh tarik. I also advise the apple lassi served in a big glass like at Sri Ananda (very good taste). They also have frozen cake (like Christmas ice cake) it is difficult to find elsewhere which is good. The buffet food is so appetising. The chicken tikka set is also good with a good portion but the price is confusing. you have to know without information that this price is for the plain naan, and the first one if you want another naan. Of course no info given by the Bangladeshi waiters who speak few English. How can it be since they have been working there for so long? Some don’t even know what is teh tarik (we are in Malaysia man, not in Bangladesh!) and they stare at you all the time even if remaining polite. It is oki if you are looking for a Bangladeshi husband but eating with all the time being stared is disturbing. That’s the reason why I often hesitate to go to eat there again depending my mood but the roti canai and teh tarik are very good It is open 24 hours and that’s also a very good point. There is much space to eat and it is airy at the mid-open small terrace where you can look at the world passing by.There are always many locals and few/some tourists but they eat fast so you can get a table fast.It is quite comfortable when you forget you are stared by the Bangladeshi staff while you eat and it can make you feel uncomfortable if you’re not looking for sex or Bangladeshi husband Western toilets are quite ok, only quite ok and useful. I went to eat there tens of time and I was only sick one time. I so consider it as an accident ( I also heared that two other customersat the same period I went there but after no more problems) The food choice is good, a la carte and buffet, there are many appetizing dishes, wide and varied choices on the buffet, fresh hot food on that buffet looking clean. The food quantity is simply good for the price. Why don’t they do anymore their promotion for roti canai like they were doing in 2017 or 2018? Even tough, the prices remain correct and good In conclusion, the service is a no no, waiters not understanding well English have sometimes to come back three times before you get what you want but the food is good. Also be careful to get back the right change by the Tamil Indian Malaysian cashiers. Otherwise the service is quite quick most of the time but it can be inconsistent, depending the time you go there and how lucky you are. There is now a new system, if you need something push the button settled on the table. One time it was very funny because they weren’t coming to take my order and therefore I waived my hand and they answered with the same sign meaning hello but not coming. The waiters need training in fact to improove their English and knowledge of basic Malaysian dishes and they have to be teached that you don’t come to eat to find a husband. The prices otherwise are very good and the food very good. I mention three stars because of the service, otherwise the food is good and cheapMore
Stumbled upon this wonderland of food by accident. Very glad we did. Staff are very helpful in assisting with dish selection, although their English is quite limited. Highly recommend the eggs in the red sauce - no idea what it was called but they are...divine! We ate here at least 3 times in our week stay, whether for breakfast, lunch or a snack after a long day out. Extremely reasonably priced, with alot of locals frequenting. You can also get a Teksi (Taxi) from here to anywhere you want, just ask the guys all seated along the outside railing - they are all eating here and Teksi drivers.More
The wife and I had lunch here today. Our waiter was very friendly and helped us with our order. We had a lot of different masalas, breads, dips etc. All the food was good and there was plenty of it. Prices are very reasonable.
Lots of food available..But I dont find it that tasty..Price okay..I personally feel service and food should improvise in future
I eat here a few times per year and they have great food at low prices. Tandoori chicken, naan, chapati and all types of roti canai are all good. Communication with the waiters is a challenge. They don’t understand malay and English is poor. Sometimes...you get something different from what you ordered.More
We ate at 3 Nasi Kandar places in Georgetown and this was by far the best. Service was helpful and courteous, unlike the other two. The food first class. Can thoroughly recommend. Just sorry I didn't take any photos.
returning to Georgetown is never complete unless I visit Jaya. As an Indian restaurant, this is cheap and offers a good selection/range of Indian food. The only fault I find is that it takes a long time to get your garlic nan or chupatties after...you order and get your main meal. The meal does get a little cold whilst waiting. Service is good and the food is very good.More
My friends and I stopped for rotis and teas. I was upset to bite into a sharp shard of glass in my Roti Canai Kaya. Informed the waiter and stopped eating. He called for his supervisor and he can and apologized and said he would...not charge for the roti. I asked him to tell the kitchen so no one else would find glass in their food. However, at checkout, I was still charged for the roti and the same waiter was completely unapologetic. I was late and didn’t want to bother about the $2.20 but this review is to encourage management to deal with complaints more emphatically.More
Honest Indian/ Malay/ Indonesian food which is ridiculously good and ridiculously cheap. Staff speak enough English and are very helpful. Mee goreng, chapati and roti rolls all excellent, I would happily turn vegetarian if I could eat here every day (if only the tandoori chicken...wasn't so good!).More
Very good Nasi Kandar, polite service although sometimes drinks take a while to arrive. Food is fresh and tasty, I recommend the chicken tikka and vegetarian omelette.
A cool place for having a fast meal. The service was helpful and the lunch was quite decent. We loved it!
Went here twice during my visit in Penang. Good, local, Indian food. And the best thing, it's cheap too!! Friendly staff as well, although they don't all speak English.
