One of the most recommended spots in town, and right on the main strip on the coast. The curry is good, as are the prawns (but definitely not king as advertised), friendly service, and a cool coastal vibe.

We went three times and loved every time. It was low season so there were never more than three tables in use. In high season, it's recommended to reserve a table. Our waiter was a sweet, older, and very attentive. He remembered our favorites by the time we left. The fish was great, as well as the steak fillet. It's... More

Delicious food, good service. Excelent meat and fish dishes.Very old traditional house. As long as power is available it is comfortable. But as soon you have a power switch off it becomes very hot, because there is no window which can be opened to get some fresh breze from the indian ocean.

I had read good reports about this well established restaurant in Malindi so was excited to eat there. First impressions were good. A romantic setting in an old Swahili house, full of authentic atmosphere. The menu looked promising and the welcome was warm. Tables were laid out with fine white linen, shinning cutlery and gleaming glasses. Disappointment set in when... More

I have been there once. The food is good but the space is too small that makes the restaurant look crowded. Very near the road and all the noisy three wheeled bikes (tuk tuk) make the environment not conducive for a nice quite dinner. It's closed with no view to ocean, and not well ventilated.

I have been eating at the Old Man and the Sea for over fifteen years and I have NEVER had a bad meal. In fact, I've never had an even mediocre meal. I swear I have dreams about the cold cucumber and mint soup. The smoked sailfish is, likewise, amazing. All of the food is outstanding and I have tried... More

I can highly recommend the cold cucumber soup as a starter. Although I came at a very quiet time, the atmosphere was nice and service very good. Happy to find a nice range of vegetarian options.

Picked this place for lunch based on other reviews and we were not disappointed. Fantastic seafood in a quaint setting. The staff are very friendly and service is top class.

Nice ambience and the service is good. They were out of stock of 3 dishes we wanted to order........no red snapper, no steaks at all no crab. I had chicken, it was no better than the street hawkers! My partner had prawn curry, which was very average. Go to Baby Marrow, far better!
