Wakayama ramen has this funny dried fish smell. And it all adds to the flavour. The soup here is so distinctive, I'm yearning for more as I write. Only now do I know that the flavour grows on you far beyond what you experience while you're eating there. One of the greatest tasting ramens I've ever had.

We were looking up where to get some late night ramen, and this place popped up. It was kind of hard to find but it was surely worth it. Only one of the crew understood english but at least she did help us since the menu was only in Japanese. They only serve one kind of ramen (tonkotsu broth i... More

Not the best, a little bit salty. But not bad to try since 700 yen is cheaper than buying food from vending machine. Arrived there at midnight, the shop still welcome me with smile and good service. Very small place, but felt like home.

I went here with 2 friends after a long day of traveling. The ramen was delicious and reasonably priced, and the food came out quickly! Staff were very friendly too! A great meal for a cold winters night!

Visited ideshoten after reading about it from multiple reviews and tour books. It is a very small shop, not very flashy. We came here for dinner, and at first we thought we had lost our direction as we did not recognise the building to be a restaurant. You can recognize it by its strong broth smell from outside. The menu... More

Ramen is a must try food in Wakayama. Among others, we selected this one, and it didn't disappoint us. The soup is well balanced, and the BBQ pork is tenderly melting in the mouth. It would be perfect, if the store could have chili pepper in addition to pepper and salt on the table.

This place was voted the top ramen in Japan by some cooking show so gets visitors from all over Japan. Its a small non-descript place - very simple, with lineups out the door. The ramen was good - perhaps I don't like the shoyu mixed with tonkotsu which is characteristic of the Wakayama region. Nice noodle consistency. Eggs are on... More

This place was great. Small quaint place where you share a table with other people. Not being from Japan it caught me off guard but the atmosphere was cool and the was one of the best I had while in Japan. It was so good I had 2 bowls. A must go to if in wakayama

Small homely place. Very different yet tasty ramen. Suited to Indian palette. Try the sushi too, bonus is its vegetarian.

It located near Wakayama station of JR line. This shop is so small and you may need to wait for a while till enter this shop. The soup is pork bone broth soy sauce .
