Visited here for dinner the evening I got I to nara, what attracted me to it was how busy it was! Especially when at that time in the evening the surrounding streets were all quiet. I ordered a set meal which included grilled eel over rice, eel omlette, salad, soup, and some weird savory custard thing which I didn't care... More

Lots combinations and variety of eel sets offered, if you like eating the smooth unagi. Very comfortable restaurant with tables nicely separated from each other so you have some privacy. The unagi was very smooth and I had no trouble with any fines bones that are usually found in it. Service was good, as expected.

Long wait even though there were plenty of empty seats inside the restaurant . Food is ok but not exactly very fantastic though.

Compared to Kyoto this is still more food for the money. Eel is deliciously cooked. Ordered a eel set, sukiyaki set, a la cart sashimi, bamboo shoot, and tempura all for 8750. Service was good but for some reason there were a lot of people from China.

Lovely old Japanese house on south end of Naramachi houses this well-known Nara restaurant famous for it's unagi dishes. We were not disappointed. Set meals including rice dish, pickles, and soup start at ¥1,800 per and are filling enough. Other choices include standard sashimi sets and sukiyaki sets. Lunch is quite crowded so either go early/late or expect some wait.... More

Great service and environment, but food is very average. Also a bit pricey compared to other local restaurants in Nara. Would recommend if you'd like a hassle free meal.

Not worth the time to come here. The presentation is only typical of all Japanese sets, but the prices are exorbitantly high (no lunch set is below 1,500 yen. Each slice of eel is around 700 yen or more. When we arrived there were lots of spaces but they made us wait outside for over half an hour. Only when... More
