Delicious handmade udon in a family run restaurant. It’s right on the way to the castle and is so delicious. There is an English menu available. Definitely recommend the niku (meat) udon!

After spending time at Himeji castle walked right here. Sat at the counter, watched with amazement the makining if the fresh udon from scratch until,I finished the last drop of my udon in a tasty broth.
I hadn't been here in over 35 years, but my dad, wife, and I visited Himeji and stopped by for lunch. We had a great reunion with the owners, who we used to see on a daily basis since my dad's church used to be...upstairs. Lots of fond memories of the food, atmosphere, and welcoming family. Their kitsune udon made that my favorite dish for life, which I tried again, along with their onigiri, which I think is "new" to their menu and was excellent.More
I had seen the positive reviews here and wanted to introduce udon to my partner so we came here for lunch after the castle before going back to Kokoen after. The staff immediately sat us down and gave us an English menu so it's not...a problem if you can't speak Japanese. There are quite a few options so plenty to choose from. It was a cool day so the udon was perfect as it warmed us up and we saw the chef cutting up fresh made udon! Not expensive at all as most udon were around 700-800 yen per bowl and the food was very satisfying. It was about 10 mins walk away from the castle or the JR station, good mid point.More
Another gem of a place. We stopped by this outlet after visiting Himeji castle. The udon was springy, not starchy. And the accompaniments were so good. I have Menme - bonito flares & raw egg, all mixed tgt. Hubby had Okame - with assorted kitsune,...wakame, age, kamabuko & beef. The kitsune was to-die-for! A must-come!More
We stopped by Memme when walking back from Himeji castle. We had heard good things about the place, so fancied checking it out. Staff were lovely and the udon was amazing. You can tell it is very fresh, and you can watch the chef cut...up the udon noodles in the kitchen! I would recommend the Kitsune (tofu) as the broth was very tasty and the tofu had a great texture.More
Called here on way back from the castle - is on main road towards the station. Spelling can change in some books but look for the sign. Amazing find food was delicious and made fresh in front of you. Only drinks are beer and water...so ideal. Great place highly recommendMore
Exquisite udon, made right in the shop. I had the unrinsed dipping noodles, which were perfect, while spouse loved the curry soup. Terrific staff, even taught me correct technique for corralling the long noodles.
Went for lunch and found the curry udon to be excellent. Price was also very good as it cost 2100 yen for three of us. Had to wait for the noodles as it was busy, so we watched the staff make them right in front...of us. Can’t get fresher noodles than that!More
Great place to visit after touring the Himeji castle. It's close to the castle and the railway station. Udon is great and affordable and the noodles are made in house. Very friendly staff and English menu.
They made the Udon noodles on the spot! Best noodles i ever ate. I ordered Curry-udon and it was amazing! I highly recommend!! 😍
On our way back to the station after visiting Himeji Castle we popped in for a bowl of noodles, which were delicious. Highly recommended.
On the way back from Himeji Castle we kind of stopped at the first place we found. And what an amazing experience. Sat in front of the spot where they constantly prepare the fresh noodles and that alone is worth the visit. And what a...delight, the Udon is so tasty. Incredible really how tender and good they were. The owner speaks very good english and helped us with the right spices mix. Many locals which is always a good sign. Would go back to Himeji simply for this !More
This little shop located between Himeji castle and Train station. Its on the main street though instead on the side street which is usually where the good restaurant at. Best Udon I ever had, the bowel is so good just eat it plain with a...bit of their light sauce. Good way to start or end your day trip to Himeji castle.More
If you are looking for a real local bowl of noodles, look no further. The master of this place makes his own noodles every day (you will see him in action if you go to eat). You can either sit at the bar or at...a table, but the bar experience is probably nicer as you are closer to where the prep the food and it is nice to see. Prices are very honest and they have English menu. I would definitely recommend it.More
