Off the main road and favoured by locals. Good servings and friendly service. A good, cheap and tasty meal. Handmade, homemade noodles. Happy hour for drinks from 5pm to 7pm. Good value.

When everywhere else in the area seems to close rather early (we were turned away by other places at 5:30) this place opens until 9. We tried some mixed starters before we had a big bowl of noodles each. The staff were all lovely, and...were happy to supply us with what may have been their only English menu, and humored us with our rudimentary attempts to speak Japanese. Fed three big appetites, including four (alcoholic) drinks for about 5500Yen. A really positive and friendly place, to which I'd happily return.More

Great for a quick lunch, delicious range of ramen. House speciality braised pork and deep fried wontons are great!

Stumbled on this ramen restaurant while visiting Hakone. A litttle off the beaten path, one street over from the Main Street through Hakone. We had a short wait for lunch but enjoyed watching the ramen maker use the bamboo pole to make the ramen. We...ordered a set lunch, with pot stickers and ramen. Very delicious.More

Went here for dinner and the service was excellent. They have a happy hour from 5-7 where a selection of drinks are half price. We had Katsu don, ramen and gyoza. All were incredible, I really recommend sharing the gyoza. Staff were great and the...food was excellent, I really recommend going here.More

My friends and I (from Australia) just ate here and it was incredible. We each ordered the Japanese Curry dish, along with two sets of gyoza and a set of spring rolls. Each dish tasted amazing, and you could really tell from the incredible flavours...that everything was home-made. Even the chilli oil was home-made by the owner! The owner and all of the staff were incredibly friendly, and service was excellent. We would eat here everyday if we stayed in Hakone longer, and it is definitely one of the best meals we've had in all of our time in Japan.More

One of the best ramen restaurants in japan! My partner and I ordered ‘meat noodles’ ‘cha shoa’ and fried wontons. Everything was delicious. Huge servings of ramen and really good price (800yen per bowl). Friendly/helpful staff :)

Akira is very nice and friendly! Ramen and sauces are homemade, rice is good and ginger ales too! Ramen with pork and fried rice are the best ones we’ve tasted.

We ate a late lunch in town when a lot of other restaurants were closed. This place actually had a wait, so we figured it had to be good. It didn’t disappoint, and we had delicious ramen, fried wantons, sticky rice, and dumplings. The owner...was our server for the meal, and spoke pretty good English. He was extremely friendly, and you could tell he took pride in the food he was serving. He pointed out his favorites and let us know he made most of it in house (see gigantic bamboo rolling pin in window). He was definitely one of the nicest people we met in Japan, and I would go back just to see him. Food was probably 4/5, but the service makes this place a 5.More

We came to Hakonē after our New Years celebrations in Tokyo just to have a couple days of rest before heading to Kyoto. We loved Hakonē and as always, we do our research on restaurants but always manage to stumble across a little gem, and...this was definitely that! This restaurant is nothing to look at, off the beaten track and quite hard to find, but it's definitely worth looking for. We were just in the mood for a good ramen, and this ramen was what a traditional ramen is all about, massive bowls filled with everything plus little gyozas & dumplings on the side. There was more than we expected but we left nothing! Highly recommend this place, more of a locals type of restaurant than a tourist trap but the staff were more than helpfulMore

On a visit to a nearby onsen, we passed this restaurant and saw one of the chefs rolling out fresh dough. We knew we had to come back and eat here, and it totally surpassed our expectations. Saw a lot of locals eating here, which...was another good sign. My husband and I ordered the pork belly and ramen. Thr pork belly was so moist and tender, I could easily tear into it with chopsticks. The ramen consisted of fresh homemade noodles and a light broth flavored with soy sauce. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. If we were staying in Hakone for longer, we'd definitely return for a second visit!More

We asked the Tourist information where to get a good ramen in Hakone. She suggested the one we tried in the hotel and this one. We walked to the place and reached the restaurant before it opened. There were some customers cued up as well...waiting for it to open. When it opened, we checked the menu and saw an item with a 20 bowl limit. We ordered that with gyoza and hot and sour noodle soup. The ramen is the best ramen we tasted during our Japan visit this year. It is in Hakone and made using the old method of using bamboo pole stick to flatten the noodle. They made use of knife to cut the noodles after. There is a flour bag to dust the dough. We are so happy with the recommendation of the Tourist information in Hakone for this.More
