Every trip to Kanazawa I make the trip to The Cottage. Excellent food always. When you want a good home cooked meal with no rice or chopsticks, this is a good place to go.

So after the raving on tripadvisor I thought I would bring our family of 4 to the restaurant, looking forward to a break from Japanese food and some good company. So our experience, we came in and were the only ones there at about 6.30-7 PM. so not a great start. As others have said the menu was limited but... More

After a long day spent travelling, the warm reception we received from Momo and Tony was second to none and just what we needed. We'd feasted on Japanese food for the past three days so we were looking for a bit of home comfort and that's exactly what we got. The home-made bread to start was really tasty and Tony... More

This tiny restaurant run by an Irishman and his Japanese wife is homely and comfortable and we much enjoyed our meal there. The menu is limited but everything is freshly cooked and vegetarians are catered for. Having some western food while travelling in Japan and somewhere that English is spoken can also make a very nice change. We had pasta... More

We saw the reviews of The Cottage on TripAdvisor and decided to try it out on our last night in Kanazawa. I phoned to book a table (not necessarily needed but recommended if you really want to go) and was greeted warmly, in English, by the Japanese co-owner Momo. When we arrived at the restaurant she greeted us by our... More

This Japanese/Irish gastro pub is an ideal spot to take a break from the ramen and sushi. The home cooking is top notch, the service and welcome fantastic.

My boyfriend and I, both from Ireland stumbled across this little gem and it has been one of the highlights of our trip to Japan so far. Mo Mo and Tony are one of the most beautiful couples you could meet with such an interesting story. We went there for lunch and had the hearty Irish stew with Tony's delicious... More

The couple who runs this quaint restaurant served us freshly baked pizza and a pasta dish with basil and sweet tomatoes that remind of how a simple well-prepared meal beats anything fancier. Their house wine is not bad at all. During the meal, the couple engaged us in friendly conversation-- probably the best welcome any tourist can receive in a... More

The cottage is incredibly cosy with decor reminiscent of an Irish pub, The food was great and to top it off, momo-san was an excellent hostess able to speak three languages and made for very stimulating conversations and tips on getting around Kanazawa. I definitely recommend that you visit if you're in town!
