I wanted to let people know it is closed for renovation. We tried to eat here last night. We used a Google translation app for the sign on the door and the word "renovation" came up. We didn't get a re-opening date.

We stumbled upon Itaru and really enjoyed the warm atmosphere, impeccable service and delicious food. Our favorite dishes were the mackerel (under delicacies on the menu) and the Hokuriku fish. Really a wonderful experience!!

Great experience - this is a real izakaya! Very friendly cooks and staff, menu in english. Food is authentic and creative at the same time. Have eaten there on both nights of my stay in kanazawa and had something different each time - everything was delicious. Highly recommend this place which is casual, welcoming and friendly but extremely serious about... More

Very accommodative. Was there with kids n strollers. Staff was very helpful in helping us with strollers.. Had the grilled yellow tail, Steam fish with sake and crab steam with sake. Fish was fresh and tasty especially the steam fish with sake. Crab was not in the English menu so we just pointed to staff for it..was good. Good to... More

A nice buzzy atmosphere and good value. I would have rated it higher but we had gone to Koide the previous night where the food was much better (albeit much more expensive). Nonetheless, I'd still recommend Itaru Honten if you're looking for a casual meal full of local colour, decent beer and sake, and not touristy. Reservations are a must.

Treated as a nuisance from the moment we walked in. Considering the prices the service should be much better than this. Plenty of other restaurants offering better Japanese food in the area. Sadly they assume that all non Japanese customers are tourists with no knowledge of the language or customs.

This is really The worst restaurant in Kanazawa! I and my girl friend did not finish the sushi because they were not fresh. Ordered another cooked Sardine dish but it has very bad smell we spit it out on the tissue paper. We left in 20 minutes and wonder how everybody still eating such low quality sea foods??? The best... Local dishes that are sometimes surprising for the western tourist, but your taste buds won't lie! The food is prepared in front of you and you can choose to get a menu (half you never heard of) of 6+ dishes for a reasonable price. It was fun to sit next to locals at the bar and the staff (apart from... More
