Phenomenal food and a really great Yakiniku style meal sets with lots of tasty options. We dined on specialties like Hida Beef (a must try), seasonal Vegetables and Sashimi along with house made miso and others. The food was unforgettable and the prices were extremely...More

Came down from the Kitayama Park, we chanced upon this restaurant during lunch time. I ordered one of the set lunch and my wife the warm Soba noodle, both were exceptional and very reasonably priced. It is slightly outside the tourist area but definitely worth...More

Enjoyed this meal immensely. The Hida beef melts in your mouth and all condiments were greatly enjoyed. The sashimi was delicious and fresh. Recommend trying the Hida beef with miso, mushroom and leek that is cooked for you on a magnolia leaf - just scrumptious!...More

We had our lunch here at the recommendation of our guide. It is opened the whole day unlike most eateries which are closed after lunch and reopened for dinner. The Hida beef is great. The buckwheat noodles with clear soup is equally nice.

Quaint and lively restaurant serving several types of barbecue: hida beef and seafood being the highlights. It's a sit-down dinner but there are no chairs but that just adds to the experience. Extremely friendly cook who come over to explain what we were eating, the...More

Great service, delicious bbq beef and chicken. Lovely atmosphere. We made a mistake not asking for a table with chairs but they quickly saw our problem, as one of our party had a bad back and sorted out another table

This place was recommended by our tour guide for its excellent beef choices. The place is a typical Japanse style restaurant where you enjoy sitting on your knees to eat. There are also tables with chairs available. I can recommend the Hida Takayama set meal...More

First try at Kyoya failed: restaurant was filled up. So try to make a reservation in advance (day before or the afternoon). Some english is spoken, especially by the cheery chef. Most seating is on tatami-mats and not the easiest for taller travelers, but the...More
