We ate here twice within 4 days, that tells you how good it is! The Unagi is served 3 ways and I loved the green onions & seaweed best. We went to the branch that was at the JR station at Meitetsu shopping complex. We tried to eat there on our first evening, but the queue was horrendous! It was... More

The smoked eel rice is a must have in Nagoya. At Maruya, you can definitely taste the smokiness in the oak-charred eel. The benefits of this restaurant is that they offer a mini version of the smoked eel rice, allowing you to try a greater variety of dishes even when dining alone. The menu has helpful diagrams explaining how to... More

The eel rice was the best I had had. Crispy on the outside, soft inside, and it went very well with the ingredients provided with the set. I had never thought that eel rice could be enjoyed as suggested by the menu. It was worth the wait and the price. Long line should be expected.

Broiled unagi rice at its best. Eaten four ways, on its own, with scallions n seaweed, then mixed with wasabi and finally adding the dashi broth. Conveniently located in the Meitetsu shopping complex above the JR station. Queued for an hour plus for lunch on a Monday.

The hitsumabushi was really delicious, even I bought some package to take home. It's expensive and need to be patient with the queue but worth to try. I went there for late lunch, so the queue was not too long, around 15 minutes. There are 3 ways to eat but I just like to eat without the soup.

I think this place (which happens to be really convenient located at Nagoya station) serves Nagoya-style Unagi rice at very reasonable prices. The quantity of the mini version is honestly more than enough for ladies and it is around 1800-1900yen which is very reasonable compared to other places which tends to price it over 3000-3500yen! There is also very clear... More

Second best unagi I've had in my entire life (first would be kyoto unagi restaurant by the river whose name I forgot :( ). First time discovered that unagi is not just plain grilled eel and rice, you can pour soup in too! We had tamago, grilled eel liver and the famous three-way unagi. At first we were not interested... Prepare to queue for awhile. We came during the odd hours and there was still people lining up outside. We waited for about 30mins. But the meal was definetly worth the wait.

Came here during dinner time. As other reviews point out, everyone have to wait for at least 30-40 min. Even though it sounds like a long wait, this is nothing compared to the famous sushi restaurants in Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, where tourists have to wake up early and wait for 2-3 hours outdoor. The waiting here is indoor, and... More

The presentation of the eel rice (about 3100 yen) was great. The eel was fresh and grilled well though not very tasty. I like the to add in all the spring onion and herbs as well as the soup. To eat the eel rice in three ways is a kind of gimmick but it works. Actually I have also tried... More
