I have spent several years in Damascus eating Damascene food, as this restaurant purports to be. All of the food was mediocre except for the fish, which was good. But the salad was terrible, and the mushawi (grilled meats) wasn't good, the service was average (the food took an hour and they did not bring us anything to drink for... More

Food was 4/5, shrimp was either bad or had frozen and was damaged already. Atmosphere was 3/5, too hot, 2nd floor. Service was 3/5, waiter wasn't always available.

Nit just Syrian but definitely good shami food. The roasted or barbeque meats are amazing. The, soups are good. We had shish taouk and lamb chops. The lime and mint drink is excellent. Prices are reasonable. Not a huge selection but good. Ask about dish of the day.

Not a posh place but as it happens quite often - perfect food. Lamb chops were close to perfection, nice shrimps in garlic & lemon sauce and very good and authentic Jordanian appetizers. Highly recommended for those who value gourmet food but not a posh interior.

Great hummus, spicy olives, cucumber salad with yogurt, grilled lamb. All was delicious, the view to Mosque and red see is amazing. Try lemon juice with mint, you won't regret it

Everyone recommends Al Shami so my expectations were a bit too high If. You can get them to grill the fish rather than fry it it would be a lot better but still tasty either way. The real deal is the falafel at Hashem for 1 JD :)

While staying in Aqaba for a week, we visited Al Shami twice. I wish we could have gone there more often. The food is amazing! The restaurant is simple, easy to find and offers from the terrace a beautiful view on the mosque. The team is super friendly and putting a lot of efforts into making you feeling comfortable. And...
