We went early before it got busy, Tony is such an entertainer he was jolly and took time to explain the menu to us amid a few jokes. I ordered the chocolate whisky cake and I really loved how chocolaty it was . The cheesecake was also good as well as the gateau with pears . It was a lovely experience .

Given that all the reviews were so full of praise for Tony’s, and several Zimbabweans we spoke to recommended it, we felt we had to go. It lived up to its reputation!
The setting is lovely, the small tea room is a comfortable delight in an African mountain forest. The tea service was something you’d be hard pushed to find anywhere in England; silver teapot, hot water and milk jugs, and sugar pot, and dainty porcelain flower patterned tea cups, saucers and cake plates (with silver cake forks, of course).
We shared an enormous slice of Austrian Coffee cake, steeped in liqueur, and topped with fresh Chantilly cream. Light and lovely.
Really worth a visit.

We drove up to the Vumba from Mutare for a special tea and cake outing, the cakes were huge and delicious and the coffees perfect. Huge range of teas and cosy on a cooler misty day, with the fire going strong. Fantastic hospitality thanks Tony! Highly recommended!

Tony's cakes are of wide renown in Zimbabwe and whilst the menu is very extravagant and the flavours and ingredients imaginative, be prepared for inexcusable prices and a tedious performance where he or one of the staff explains every single item on the menu in exhausting detail (it would be wonderful to be able to read the menu for yourself and ask for clarity if something was confusing). The ambience of the place also leaves a lot to be desired. For the price of the boujee menu items one would hope for an equally posh ambience. That being said the iced coffee is exceptional and depending which cake you order you will be in for a treat.

Oh my goodness, I am just raving about this place—Tony himself, the chocolate cake, the coffee & hot chocolate, the atmosphere, the piano, the cats! Wow oh wow!
While on safari we celebrated a surprise 60th birthday here. The four of us thought it would be fun outing, but we had no idea it would be a highlight of the whole safari—and we are serious nature lovers who focus on wildlife and birds and are not given to gushing about the dining aspect of a trip. But this was exceptional!
The birthday boy and I are chocolate connoisseurs and we both agreed that Tony’s was the Best Chocolate Experience of our Lives!!! That’s over 120 years of chocolate indulging.
Tony’s outgoing personality is perfectly suited for this type of business and he certainly knows how to bake a cake. We had a variety of coffees and hot chocolates, even a lemonade and all were superb and memorable.
Tony’s was a sweet surprise in every respect!

I'd say this is the only place that catered for my unruly dietary requirements, I mean Tony you are a star. I dont take cow milk nor eggs and guess who had a amazing latte and cake too, all lactose free. Will definitely visit again for the guilt free yumminess. I really was amazed because you hardly find a place where you can enjoy dessert in Zim when you dont take eggs and milk.

Thankyou for your review. We do have 2 Vegan options with our cakes, which are also Gluten free... But I don't serve a lactose free latte, so I'm a little confused there. We have served a coconut cream topped coffee, but not a latte.

Don’t hesitate visiting this cute small coffee shop in Vumba. The prices are stiff but the cakes are very filling. 2-3 people could share a cake. We highly recommend the cheese cake. That bottomless coffee is also a bonus. The view of the Bvumba Mountain near the shop is also amazing.

A marvelous jewel of a man is Tony, place, staff and state of the art coffee shop with, cakes,teas and coffees to die for. A beautiful, curated from the soul space from a master designer with his heart literally on his sleeve and in every ensemble around every corner. Stunning art-works of local Zimbabweans. Most astonishing lampshades Tony makes out of recycled plastic bottles! Whenever in Vhumba/Mutare region DO NOT MISS Tony's.

not to much to see in vumba .
but Tony's is definitely up there .
the cakes and drinks are to die for .
definitely worth popping in !
although there is not enough seating
he needs to extend the roof and have 6 more large tables outside in fresh air as
people are to close together .
most people like their space and not have to listen to alot of loud conversation

After all the reviews after our trip we decided to pass by Tony's for a slice.
one thing commentable about Tony is he is very friendly he showed us a variety of cakes and we asked a lot but he was very patient
his cakes we bought the chocolate whisky cake which l would recommend to anyone However the other one l forgot the name l would say "am too black for the cake " but overally l give it 4/5

whether its the array of 175 different teas, the range of freshly made and exciting cakes, the "boozy" additions on offer, the tea-garden setting or just the aura that is Tony we are truly blessed to have this gem in our lives.
Tonys is an experience that all should hopefully get to enjoy one day.

Tony's cake is the best I've ever tasted. I had a decadent chocolate sponge layered with toasted strawberries topped with chocolate ganache and served with a bowl of whipped cream.

we walked to tony’s and were rewarded with the tastiest coffee, lemonade and the nicest and smoothest orange coconut drizzle cake.
i ever had. sitting in the garden was a real treat! would gladly come again.

The cakes and coffees were amazing. The children had lemonade also they enjoyed playing with Tony and his cat. Tony is such a lovely, warm hearted person. Definitely going back soon
