If you are a animal-lover then do not got there!!! some of the good comments here are people who look away and enjoy the luxuary feeling here. They told us that the elephants where rescued and not able to live in the wilderness (like in...the answers here in the bad reviews) but my impression was that the elephants a not happy there, are hungry, just want the food from the visitors and must standing still because of the guides with the sticks (with hooks). The elephants must standing in a row (like a training in a circus) so the visitors can feed and interact with them. But its just feeding - cause they are hungry. The food for the visitors was perfect (thats why i give a 2/5) but you can enjoy this kind of food in your luxuary hotel as well - not destroy elephants life for it. If you had a Dinner in a place where elephants pass a lot and you can just see them - fine - but not this kind of execution. If visitors go there and pay for it, the elephants stay in horrible conditions - mind that. I hate that i pay for that - so i must write about it for other people. Its all about the demand and the money. Don't make this mistake.More

A wonderful experience lasting approx four hours. The brilliant staff round off an unforgettable experience. Starts with drinks and a brief introduction to the refuge and it's staff, including some of the aims for elephant protection. You then get time to interact with and to...feed the elephants. Up close and personal is the name of the game here! Next is a delicious three course dinner seated next to the lake with stunning views. Dinner is made entirely on site using locally sourced and on site grown ingredients (and serenaded by the many hippos in the lake!) Complimentary wines/beers are served and replenished regularly. Finish with a selection of teas or coffees. All in all a fantastic experience which is also supporting the rescued elephants and future conservation.More

My family (2 adults and 3 teenagers) booked The Elephant Café experience. From start to the end the experience was unique. We booked the transfer via speed boat! It was a real game boat experience as Sven (the driver) stopped each time we spotted hippos,...crocodiles and elephants (experience 1 of the journey!). When we reached The Elephant café, the amazing staff was waiting for us with a refreshment and an accredited photographer started to record our experience from the start (experience 2 of the journey We have already received the pictures and they will be printed as a way to remember the special day!). Later on, we fed the elephants (experience 3!). We don’t have words to explain it! You have as much food as your want to feed them (they eat so fast!)…it was +30min and everything was photographed by the professional. I could not stop laughing seeing the elephants being impatient for us to put food in their trunks. Last part of the day was a spectacular dinner (experience 4!). The quality of food was of the highest I’ve had. All drinks included and service was second to none. All in all, if you plan to be in Livingstone…You cannot miss visiting The Elephant Café…I am sure you will be fascinated and will remember the experience for life!More

This was one of the most special experiences I have had. From stepping out of the car my partner and I were treated like the most important people in the world. The surreal elephant experience was one of a kind and getting to feed and...be that close to two amazing animals was magical. Following this we got to have lunch in one of the most amazing settings on the Zambezi overlooking the river. The service was incredible and the food matched. We were treated to an incredible 3 course meal and seeing and tasting local food and cuisine was something truely special. My partner and I left speechless and would highly recommend anyone visiting Livingstone to make this a must do part of their trip. We will no doubt be back. Thank you everyone at the Elephant cafe for making our experience so so specialMore

What a wonderful African excursion ! A really genuine welcome from the knowledgeable staff gave us an insight into how good our visit was going to be. Feeding the elephants was such an enjoyable experience and although there were only two elephants to be fed...because of the small number of people in our group, both our participants kept us very busy ! Once we had finished feeding the elephants, we were able to wash our hands at the thoughtful, well provisioned wash station before sitting down to eat an amazing meal at one of the tables set up in a dining area overlooking the Zambezi River, a really great location. Before we commenced our meal, the chef and restaurant manager explained what we would be eating and drinking and that really added to our dining experience. A very tasty warm nut entree was followed by a 4 course meal that included much local produce and every dish was so tasty ! There is nothing more that could be done to make the visit any better. The washroom facilities were also very good and we felt that even though there were only 4 of us who had booked this lunchtime option, everyone here made our day so wonderful. We were also sent photos and a video of our experience at no extra cost (a very pleasant surprise ! ), receiving this by email before the end of the day !! We would recommend this excursion to everyone who enjoys the mix of wildlife, fine dining and supporting animal welfare. Steve & Julie BreakspearMore
