We had a great meal at Namaste Omar’s. The curries were delicious. The service was good and the meal was great value. If we had been in Hoi An longer then we would definitely have returned but unfortunately we only had a couple of nights....I’m glad we went here for one of them!More

Great, well cooked, fresh and authentic Indian food. Friendly and smiley service. A meal for two complete with a very pokey Long Island Iced Tea and Lassi came in under 500 VD! The room was clean with a nice atmosphere.

We were touring with Rubicon Tours (1 day full day tour of Da Nang + Hoi An) (please see my separate review of them). This restaurant was part of our itinerary for dinner. We reached Hoi An around 3.30 pm and spent the whole evening...at Hoi An Ancient Town. We moved out of there at 7.30 pm and came to this restaurant for dinner on our way back to Da Nang where we were staying at the Stella Maris Beach Danang Hotel (please see my separate review of this hotel). So, the choice of restaurant and the meal preference was as per Rubicon Tours. And for some strange reason we were reserved a vegetarian meal there. This was the only mistake they made in an otherwise very good tour they arranged for us. So, our review of this restaurant will therefore be reserved as per what is mentioned above. We are a family of 4 (two daughters of age 9 years and 17 years). We were visiting Vietnam for a 7 days holiday. We started with Hanoi (2 nights). Here we did the Halong Bay cruise with Unicharm Cruise (please see my review of that and many other reviews of Hanoi restaurants, things to do, etc.). Then we moved on to Da Nang (2 nights) where we planned to cover Da Nang + Hoi An for 1 full day and Ba Na Hills for another half a day (please see detailed reviews of mine on these places). Finally we moved on to Ho Chi Minh City where we went to Chu Chi Tunnels and War Remnants Museum (please see detailed reviews for these places and more at Ho Chi Minh City). Review of the restaurant - It is approximately 10 minutes away from Hoi An Ancient Town. - The interiors are nothing great. In fact, it looks a little old and worn out. - We had a vegetarian set meal consisting of Dal, Sabji and Paneer. This we had with rice and garlic naan. All the items were good. No complaints. It is just that we don't like full vegetarian food when we eat out. So, we were disappointed with the same. Though no fault of the restaurant. - The restaurant has a bar. Though we had only beer (in bottles), but I noticed they had some limited choices of hard liquor. - The toilets are pretty ok. Basically a little old and worn out as the rest of the restaurant. - Most of the waiters are from Punjab and can understand Hindi. - It took them a while to serve the food even though there were not too many people. - Noticed something obnoxious - one of the waiters was using the same cloth to dry his sweaty arms and then use it to dry washed plates!!! - We could see a bit of the kitchen towards the back with a sliding door. It didn't seem too clean. About Hoi An - Firstly, if you are visiting Vietnam you must come to Hoi An Ancient Town. It is beautiful. It is a small town with ancient buildings which consist of pagodas, Chinese prayer halls, shops, restaurants, pubs and spas. No vehicles are allowed in parts of the Ancient Town which is only meant for tourists. The unique thing about this place is that each and every establishment has lanterns which are lit up in the evening to create the most magical experience. Then there is a river in between the ancient town which has boating for tourists. Even the boats have lanterns. Additionally, you get to float lanterns on the river. All this has a combined effect which is truly fascinating. Please see my detailed review of Hoi An Ancient Town. - It takes about 45 minutes by road from Da Nang to reach Hoi An. - Our recommendation is that you make Da Nang the base of stay and then visit Hoi An. But, I believe lot of people make Hoi An their base and spend few days here. We found Da Nang to be a very nice touristy place with lots of things to do. Additionally, all the good hotels are in Da Nang. The airport is in Da Nang. We felt that Hoi An is beautiful, but once you have experienced it, then maybe going there for 2-3 days continuously might not have any charm. - You must visit Hoi An in the evening. Because the beauty of that place is when it is lit up with lanterns in the evening. Then our recommendation is that you have dinner in Hoi An itself, even if you are planning to go back to Da Nang in the night. There are nice restaurants and pubs in the Ancient Town. Since we were on tour, we did not have dinner in the Ancient Town as per itinerary. - There is good touristy kind of shopping in Hoi An. Lot of handicrafts, lanterns, shoes, clothes, etc. We found the price to be reasonable as whole of Vietnam, pricing for everything is very reasonable. But, yes since this is prime tourist destination, souvenirs might be a little costlier. For e.g. we thought that Old Quarters area in Hanoi has cheaper souvenir shopping. Please see my detailed review of Old Quarters. - Hoi An has a Night Market within the Ancient Town. It is a well organised night market. And even if you don't buy anything, you must visit the night market. It is quite beautiful and it has many lantern shops which are so beautiful because they will have hundreds of lanterns lit up at their shop. You can click some amazing instagramable photographs in front of the lantern shops. - There are no public toilets in the Ancient Town or Night Market in Hoi An. Which is a pity considering so many tourists throng there. You can find toilets in the Chinese prayer halls and also restaurants and pubs. But, no public toilets. So, please plan accordingly. - The Ancient Town is super crowded in the evening. But it was ok for us as we are Indians and we are used to the crowd. Also, we feel that such a crowd creates a carnival kind of a feeling. - You must do the boating. It is worth it and is a lovely experience. The duration of the boat ride is 40 minutes and then charge VND 400k per boat. - The weather in December is pleasant. You don't have to take any warm clothes. Also, you don't feel too hot. - You must visit one of the Chinese Assembly Halls. They are very nicely decorated and also have public toilets. - You need an entry ticket for Hoi An. Though it is an open town without any gate to check tickets, but you need to buy tickets because we saw ticket checkers (short ladies wearing ties) roaming around in the crowd randomly checking people for tickets. Also, to enter any of the Chinese Assembly Halls, you will need the entry ticket for the Ancient Town. It is just one ticket for the Ancient Town and all the Assembly Halls. So, I think it is worth it. - There are many famous coffee shops in Hoi An. So, if you are a coffee lover you can chose some famous one next to the river. There are also enticing spas where we saw lot of people getting foot massages. It looked very tempting to us but we did not have the time to indulge as we were on a private tour and had timings to follow. For us the Halong Bay cruise with Unicharm Cruise (out of Hanoi) and then Hoi An and Ba Na Hills (out of Da Nang) were the best things which we experienced in Vietnam.More

We went there for a quick meal on a super hot sunny day. The staff seated us and got the menu in no time. Extremely attentive and polite staff. They suggested some dishes that we tried. The biriyani was better than the ones I’ve eaten...in india! The vegetables were so fresh and cooked to artistic perfection. A must go-to place in hoi an Very reasonably priced for the brilliant quality of food. I love the food and they service. The washrooms were sparkling clean.More

We ate lunch here and then went to Ganesh in the evening. Ganesh is way too crowded and overhyped. We actually loved this restaurant just as much and appreciated the delicious food and quick service. Loved the food probably a bit more here.
