Great food, great people, great experience

We ate here two nights while in Hoi An, and had some of the best, if not the best, food we had in Vietnam, including in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Hue. The grilled scallops were fantastic, with a simple but delicious dipping sauce of sea salt, coarsely ground black pepper, and kumquat juice squeezed into the mix right there at the table. Also very good were the fish on a stone, morning glory, shrimp stir fried with tamarind, beef with wild betel leaf, and banana flower salad. They have Vietnam's own craft beer, Pasteur Street Brewery, in the bottle, and be sure to try to kumquat juice, with kumquat, lemon grass, and mint. Really refreshing. My sister went to the bar with the waitress to see how they make it. Service was very good and very friendly.

A real restaurant

A restaurant worth visiting. The menu is varied and rather original Venture into this charming sea-side restaurant and delve into Vietnamese Gastronomie. The service is very professional and they speak both French and English. 4 courses, 2 desserts and 4 drinks for 16euro per head. Top end food at very affordable prices. This is a great place to visit in Hoi Han where too many restaurants turn out to be absolute tourist traps. PS: Don’t miss out on the stone-naked whole fish!

Chim Sao was highly recommended to us and it did not disappoint. Beautiful setting, friendly staff. We had the grilled scallops and liked them so much we ordered more AND then went down to the grill to watch how the magic was done. It's one of the few restaurants in Hoi An worth a return visit.

Space and great food

A gem of a restaurant with nice views over the river if you happen to sit at the back of the garden. Spacious seating in the large garden - which is a nice break from some of the overcrowded crammed places in Vietnam. Delicious food - I particularly liked the prawns in tamarind sauce, but all dishes were very enjoyable. Highly recommended. And very nice staff and landlords, too.

A pleasant surprise in crowded Hoian

Had a few days of stretching and relax in Hoian. And found this beautiful little restaurant which we then spent two dinners there. The atmosphere is serene, outlook to the river is breathtaking at dawn, and lots of space for kids to play. The owner and chef were friendly and very knowledgable, and the food is of another league compared to surrounding eat houses and price is fine too. Come experience for yourself. Myself, will definitely come back

Lovely place in Hoi An

Visited for drinks - lovely atmosphere and a really cosy place with great location. Loved the vietnamese/french mix of the interior, very classy. Got invited for cooking class with owner and chef Do Kieu Thoung the day after - cooked 5 courses from the meny including chefs secrets tips - a wonderful experience. Got to see the Market, had a really nice meal and so much fun! Don’t miss this place with its great hospitallity when in Hoi An.

THE best food we had in Vietnam

What a fabulous find! Vietnamese restaurant serving a great range of food suitable for meat and fish eaters, vegetarians and vegans. The owner is incredibly knowledgable about each of the dishes and can offer history of where the produce came from. Owner confirms that she visits the markets herself to select the finest ingredients. The place itself is nicely laid out with a choice of 3 seating areas whether you want riverside, courtyard style or undercover near the bar. There is also a small lounge area for pre-dinner drinks. The bathroom facilities were clean with attention to detail. The kitchen is open plan. The staff friendly and professional. The choice of wine is also good. Please note that the restaurant does not currently take credit/debit cards. In a 9 day stay in Vietnam this is the only restaurant we visited twice. If we return to Hoi An we will definitely go back again. Thank you to all at Chim Sao Lindsay and Eamonn (Visited from Tropical Beach Resort)

Probably the beat meal of my life!.. 🤩

The most amazingly conscious staff make everything a dream... not that the food needs any dressing up, it really is simply delicious! It’s everything you could wish for in Vietnam; local food, cooked expertly and served beautifully (on the plate and with a smile😊). I cannot thank my lucky stars enough that we chanced upon this place on our first evening! 💫 Sure, we love adventure and exploring and trying new things, but this is something id miss even more than the exploration... we need as much of this place as possible in the next 4 days we will be in Hoi An. As we are staying close by, we plan to come back for lunch and dinner tomorrow and Saturday... and quite frankly, might try to squeeze in another visit! You can’t have too much of heaven right?! Om nommm!! *and thank you!*x

Delicious food in a super relaxed atmosphere.

We ate here by chance on our first night in Hoi An and then came back again on our last night because the food was so good. The meat eaters and the vegetarian in our family were fully satisfied both times. The Vietnamese dishes are amazing, and definitely the centerpiece, but don’t hesitate to add the French fries into the mix - they were delicious! The atmosphere is excellent; quiet and relaxed, with a really atmospheric playlist and good wine. It is a great place to end a busy travel day!

We had a great time there! The food was excellent with a great choice of vietnamese dishes showcasing local products. Drinks were also great, local beers, local rum, only quality products. Service was amazing from the beginning to the end! The restaurant itself is beautiful with a lot of space, but still very intimate. If that wasn't enough, prices are more than fair, probably a bit above average for the area but totally worth what you will get! I recommend this place without a doubt!

Fantastic Restaurant in Hoi An

Our favourite restaurant in Hanoi has now opened up in Hoi An and we were so excited to try it out while we were there. We were not disappointed and ended up eating there quite a few times during our stay. The lovely staff made us feel so welcome and went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful experience each time we turned up. The drinks are super nice, the rum ice-cream was yummy and every dish we had was delicious. We can't wait to go back to Hoi An to eat here again!
