We dined at the Tandir Restaurant on our first night in Ortahisar, initially drawn by its striking location on a low cliff looking towards Ortahisar castle. The view is stunning by day and night and the restaurant's outside balcony provides a fabulous setting for alfresco...dining. Meals are punctuated by the echoing call to prayer from the town's mosques. We were so captivated by this ambience that we decided to return to the restaurant every night for the next week. However, what really drew us back was the exceptional quality and very good value of the food. Cheese pastries with borlotti beans for starters became an evening ritual, and then we agonised over lamb shank, or chicken skewers, or meat balls, or pottery cooked beef for our mains. We were spoilt for choice and everything we tried was equally delicious. The service was excellent - attentive, friendly and efficient. And the star of the show was the cook/owner, Hulya, who lavished love as well as her considerable culinary skills on everything she cooked. She made us feel part of her family and gave new meaning to 'hospitality'. Thank you Hulya for making us so welcome and feeding us so well. We recommend your restaurant unreservedly.More

Had dinner at Tandir Cafe when holidaying in Cappadocia, staying in Ortahisar. They have a very conveniently located terrace, from where you have a view over Ortahisar Castle and the old town. Watching the sunset on Ortahisar as you have dinner is a must. The...restaurant in itself if very picturesque, and feels like a traditional Anatolian place. I recommend the cheese boregis and the pottery kebap, as well as the apple tea. The bill is quite cheap and the owners are very generous with the bread when you order babagannuş or haydari. In a nutshell, go there if you want to have a relaxing dinner experience in Ortahisar.More

Pretty expensive for very less food. Taste is like everywhere. Staff is respectless and unmotivated.

The family is warm and welcoming, the food is wonderful and the views are stunning. The Turkish ravioli was great and the Albanian-style liver dish was fantastic.

OMG. This place not only has a original cave church right in the entrance, but the most spectacular view I’ve ever seen. Choose dinner under the stars in the terrace to get the best experience. Food in general is SO good! I tried the mushrooms...with cheese (oh dear god) and the pumpkin blossoms are just terrific! Also the local red wine was very delicious! Loved how friendly and relaxed the staff was and the lovely melodies they played in the background.More

They can surely prepare a all veg meal. You will have to communicate with them before and probably get a tour operator as language may be an issue Thanks Saaim
