We had an incredible dining experience at Sala Mexicali! From the moment we walked in, the vibrant atmosphere and warm hospitality set the perfect tone for an amazing meal.
The tacos were bursting with authentic flavors, and the buffalo wings had just the right balance of spice and crispiness—absolutely delicious! And let’s not forget the cocktails—each one was expertly crafted and the perfect complement to the meal.
A huge shoutout to the wonderful staff who made the experience even better with their friendly and attentive service. We loved every moment at Sala Mexicali and can’t wait to come back for another round of tacos and cocktails! 🌮🍹🔥

Hidden place with authentic Mexican cuisine. Our vegetarian quesadillas and burritos were very tasty, the price-performance ratio is right here (4 drinks and 2 main courses ~650Baht)

This is to remind myself never to give up on a place. Last night a friend of mine was craving Mexican food so we gave Sala Mexicali another try. I hadn't been there in many years as the few times I went there I was disappointed with the food and the staff (the atmosphere has always been nice.)
They sure have improved, my word. I didn't take any pictures, sorry, but we both had chips, salsa and guac appetizer, then tacos. First of all, the chips didn't come from a bag, they were freshly made, hot and crisp. The salsa was just right and the guacamole was perfect. Then the tacos came out and they were also perfect. I ordered two crispy and one soft and if I closed my eyes I could see the beach in Southern California, it was just like the Mexican food I grew up with. 130 baht excellent margaritas, blended or mixed. I didn't try the different flavors but again, it took my back to the So Cal of my youth.
I see some other foodies have visited recenlty. It's too bad the business doesn't take better food pictures for their FB and Google pages. The photos there don't do it justice.
I've read they also opened a 3rd branch somewhere in town.
Anyway, if you gave up on this place before, give it another go. There were lots of Chinese tourists there last night, coming all the way from China to Phuket to eat Mexican food? Why not when it's this good?

While the food at this Mexican restaurant is undeniably awesome and great, the service is unfortunately the worst I've experienced due to the lazy waiters. The dishes were delicious and authentic, with a great variety of flavors and seasonings. However, the waiters seemed uninterested in providing good service, and were slow to take orders and bring out food. Despite the subpar service, the food is definitely worth trying if you're willing to be patient.

They recently added a baked oysters Rockefeller which is fantastic! The old standbys such as the hot fajitas are as awesome as ever. Like so many other restaurants after Covid there is a shortage of staff but the limited staff they have works really hard and does a great job.
I do have to report that the hamburgers used to be really good - it was actually two full patties which have been dramatically downsized obviously because of the recent huge inflation so I would skip that for now.

We recently moved to Phuket and some friends who had been here a while invited us for dinner at Sala Mexicali. We enjoyed our chips with three different types of dips (the mango one is the bomb). My wife and I shared the 2 chimichanga plate and they were surprisingly good. We weren't sure how Tex-Mex food would be handled in Thailand but they did a great job. The entire meal was not too pricey, for four people coming in at about $33 USD. This place is not too far from our condo so I'm sure we'll be returning for some comfort food.

First things first, the food is very good here and we have visited the restaurant on numerous occasions over the years because of that.
However, in November 2021 and during our most recent visit, the service has been disappointing. This is not due to a lack of effort from the staff but effectively their is one waitress attempting to deal with the orders of the entire restaurant. One member of staff prepares drinks orders at the bar and another brings food out of the kitchen. The waitress is running around between all three and all the tables and then taking food orders into the kitchen. Understandably, as the restaurant fills up the service declines, time to get a drink, food and the bill are all extended. This is NOT the fault of the staff who desperately needs another waitress as support and a better ordering system.
So come on Sali Mexicali, the restaurant, food and drink are all great but service and overall experience suffers because staff are run off their feet.

We visited as a family and shared 1 starter and 3 mains. 2 shots of tequila and 5 Margaritas come in at 1600 THB - great value
Food was perfect, ribs amazing and the drinks hit the spot.

Good food generally and everyone else in the group enjoyed their food. I always enjoy the atmosphere of the Rawai branch too. Make sure you bring mosquito spray! It is beautifully set out and like being in a forest.
The food generally is great but the vegetarian burrito has gone really downhill. I am writing this review because I used to love eating here and I am sad as there are very limited things on the menu I can eat. Vegetarian burritos should not and do not normally come with cooked frozen peas, carrots and sweetcorn. They also don't come with fake meat or fried tofu (whatever it was it tasted horrible). They should be: cheese, black beans, refried beans, lettuce, hot sauce like Chipotle, rice, cooked onion, guacamole and you can have pepper as an extra.
I was so disappointed I felt like I was eating baby food. Why am I paying this much money for you to just cook some frozen vegetables - no thanks. It lacked any flavour of any sort. Just a wrap with frozen veg and cheese and some strange protein thing. There were a few black beans and some plain rice. Was so unsatisfied. Please change your vegetarian food so I can come back with my friends!

We have visited Sala Mexicali multiple times during our 1 month Thailand visit.
The food is great, prices are not expensive and staff is friendly.
We came here with a toddler and the staff gave her extra attention and were great in general.
I highly recommend if you want to eat some mexican food during your trip to Thailand

I love Mexican food and can’t get enough of it in Sweden due to lack of options, so when we found this place near our hotel and the reviews were decent, we decided to check it out.
All-in-all it was a good experience, the food was delicious, the margaritas satisfied, and the atmosphere was very good. We had the guacamole and chips to start and they were very good. The tortilla chips are made from scratch and were great. Fish Tacos, good. Quesadillas for the kids, good and made to order for the picky eaters (no peppers, please), and the cheese sticks were “the best ever” according to the younger ones. Big portions, too.
Extra bonus: live music with a guy on guitar. I recommend.

This restaurant was a positive surprise since we just wandered in. It is a lovely setting. Nice open area with lots of greenery. Bathroom is very clean. Staff is nice. Food was very tasty. I recommend prawn appetizer ,fajitas with prawns, fresh mango shake and avocado-mango-feta salad. I would happily eat there again.

the food is good...not great, but good. Especially if you've been in Asia for awhile and Mexican appeals. Tortilla chip baskets aren't huge, the banana mango salsa isn't wonderful, but the guacamole is great. My quesadilla was really great and we enjoyed the frozen margaritas.

Surprisingly good mexican food including freshly made tortilla chips and real guacamole. Skip the chicken wings and ribs and stick with the burritos, fajitas, nachos, and really delicious tacos. Reasonably priced and child friendly, it's a great place for when you want something other than Thai food.

Always consistent with food and quality which is great. But with new servers the new ones do not share the great service attitude the owner and the old staff deliver. the new servers are rude, ignore you often and simply ruin a great place. I notice a few others have also commented about the service being poor. No doubt a result f the new hires. Better off without em.
