My harsh rating is due, I reckon, to my choice of meal. I wanted to try a speciality of the area and chose Mixed Northern-style Curry. Whilst it was tasty enough, the meat in it (pork, I think) was very fatty and had a lot...of chewy 'sinew'! I was unable to eat much of it. On the other hand, my husband's spicy beef dish was delicious! A word of warning - we like spicy food and my husband ordered 'medium-spicy'. It was very spicy - mild might have been a more sensible choice. We should probably return here and choose different dishes from the extensive menu!More
As we were staying in this resort we dined two three times in this restaurant. We found the food fresh and to our palate. Mr Bell and Sa really looked after our needs and were very hospitable.
Good thai food with a river view. Tom yum soup with kung fish was soir and spicy as it should and the fried spare ribs tasted like heaven. And all this with a great view of the river.
Came here for dinner and this was easily one of the best meals we had in Chiang Rai as most of the other meals have been lacklustre. This place definitely packs a punch in flavour and most importantly, spice! We had no issues with communication...and the environment of the restaurant was also lovely. We felt the pork curry was a bit too sweet for our tastes so I would give that a miss if I ever visit again. The prawns were fresh, sweet and amazing! Would. one back here again!More
Locals seem to come here fairly early and we were lucky to get a table at around 7:30pm. By the time we had finished eating the place had completely emptied. It's popular for good reason. There's a large menu with sections for Northern Thai dishes...along with the usual Thai food you see everywhere. Note that being northern Thai a good proportion of the dishes are pork based and reasonably spicy. There's not a lot of English spoken here but the menu does have translations so as long as you're not after guidance or explanations you should be fine. The staff were lovely and patient with us and the language barrier wasn't an issue. Just keep smiling. If you want to try regional Thai food this is a very good place to come.More
The restaurant was highly rated on TripAdvisor, and very highly rated by our guide. It was a short walk from our hotel. We had to give it a try! Great setting, along the river, with a nice view. Excellent service. Friendly servers who were willing...to explain the very large menu to us, and help us with our selections. No wine list per se, I just walked to the rack with our server and selected what I wanted. The spicy pork larb was an excellent starter. The shrimp with coconut and mushrooms was good, but the shrimp with shitake mushrooms was even better. Portions were large and we nearly ate it all. Excellent value!More
On a rainy evening, we wanted some northern food that was close by. This met the bill for that. The food was mostly good, but is higher priced (being on the river). The Som Tam was good and spicy. The shrimp fried rice was fried...rice with 3 shrimp on the side. The cucumber salad tasted good, but had lime slices (with rind) and hard to chew tamarind bits in it. The grilled pork was a bit dry. The tom yum gai (northern style) wasn’t great. With the rain, we didn’t get the benefit of the nice river setting, so maybe that would have made up for mediocre food.More
We visited twice. First evening, table actually over the river with food well above average. Rather expensive, but nice experience. Returned several nights later, we wanted takeout back to our suite. The hostess was condescending, frankly rude. Out of crab, out of prawns. We should...have just departed, but we ordered several entries [none of which were cheap]. When the order was ready, more hostile behavior from hostess. Food was very ordinary for the price. My 2 rating is charity.More
Good Thai dishes from the Northern Region. Remember to ask them to tone down the chilly level. Medium Thai levels are still way too heavy and we are Asians! At 6.30pm there was a beautiful sunset view of the river.
