Don't come here expecting to sit down and be covered with soft, purring cats demanding your attention. These cats get attention all day long - they are distant and aloof, unless you ply them with treats. Take a moment, sit down at one of the...tables(seating is on the floor to bring you onto their level), enjoy your drink and be patient. The iced thai tea is particularly good. If you wait long enough, the cats may show some interest, or they might just go about their business, climbing the catwalks suspended from the ceiling, sleeping on an elevated platform, eating/drinking/using the litter box. I found the best way to attract them WITHOUT buying treats was to draw their attention with a dangling bracelet or a flipping shoelace(which I just happened to have in pocket - it was certainly not planned for this visit!). The shoelace was the best idea, and caught the attention of several felines, which then began to warm up to my petting. But that's it. If you want more cuddling, you'll have to get your own cats.
There are procedures for entering the catzone: removing shoes, washing hands, leaving bags in cubbies outside. There are rules of conduct posted on each table. You need to purchase food to enter, but it can be as small as a beverage, and you can also purchase snacks for the cats. These felines seem very well cared for, and run for attention whenever one of the workers enters the room, rubbing and meowing and looking for petting(and food). I feel this is a place where you want to give your support, as they are doing good thing for these animals. And it's a nice cool place to spend an evening.More
