If you need some fur therapy this is a great cafe to visit. Food and drinks are fine if not cheap but that is not what this place is about. The cats are in a large sunny room with plenty of climbing frames and snoozing...hide aways if they want to escape the visiting humans. There are low tables with mats to sit on and a few low tables with chairs. You can spend as long as you like here. It is worth buying the little tubes of cat food (40 thb per tube). 2 tubes kept us supplied for the hour we were there. There were 30 cats in the room, all look to be in excellent condition. When we first arrived there were about 8 people in the room but just before we left a lot more arrived, however it remained a quiet and peaceful space and the cats seemed unperturbed. Recommend a visit if you like cats.More

Don't come here expecting to sit down and be covered with soft, purring cats demanding your attention. These cats get attention all day long - they are distant and aloof, unless you ply them with treats. Take a moment, sit down at one of the...tables(seating is on the floor to bring you onto their level), enjoy your drink and be patient. The iced thai tea is particularly good. If you wait long enough, the cats may show some interest, or they might just go about their business, climbing the catwalks suspended from the ceiling, sleeping on an elevated platform, eating/drinking/using the litter box. I found the best way to attract them WITHOUT buying treats was to draw their attention with a dangling bracelet or a flipping shoelace(which I just happened to have in pocket - it was certainly not planned for this visit!). The shoelace was the best idea, and caught the attention of several felines, which then began to warm up to my petting. But that's it. If you want more cuddling, you'll have to get your own cats. There are procedures for entering the catzone: removing shoes, washing hands, leaving bags in cubbies outside. There are rules of conduct posted on each table. You need to purchase food to enter, but it can be as small as a beverage, and you can also purchase snacks for the cats. These felines seem very well cared for, and run for attention whenever one of the workers enters the room, rubbing and meowing and looking for petting(and food). I feel this is a place where you want to give your support, as they are doing good thing for these animals. And it's a nice cool place to spend an evening.More

I enjoyed my tea in the cat place. Just a bit above average, so good if not very good. I hope they look after the cats properly, that's a concern, but otherwise quite a memorable experience. You are sitting in a cafe on the floor...and cats are roaming about. Quite specialMore

Lovely small café in Chiang Rai, with low prices, nice coffee, tasty food and about 25 cuddly cats. A must for cat lovers. If the cats are ignoring you just buy some cat food from the till…you will become their best friend.

Our second experience of a cat cafe was a great one, thanks to Cat 'n' A Cup Cat Cafe. There is no pressure to rush off, they allow you to spend as long as you like at your little table on the floor. The cats...are all healthy looking and well looked after, and very friendly. We got lots of cat cuddles and had a good cup of coffee. Would highly recommend.More

It was my first experience with a cat cafe, and Cat 'n' A Cup appeared to be quite a nice place with some yummy drinks and snacks. My partner and I dropped by in the afternoon, and most cats were then sleeping. Those who were...awake didn't show any interest in the majority of visitors. That fact didn't actually make me upset or disappointed, I enjoyed my brunch anyway and took a few pictures of the cats without disturbing them. Mind that there're always lots of visitors in the cafe, so you will probably have to queue and wait till someone leaves.More

Absolutely fantastic place to spend a few hours. The cats are gorgeous and clearly very well looked after. The food and drinks are great and you only have to buy one thing and you can stay as long as you like. I've already been twice...since being in Chiang Rai!More

We happened to visit the cafe in the evening, from 2030 to 2130. Unfortunately, around 10 kids were in the bar at the same time and managed to ruin our experience. I live with cats since I was born and I never saw so much...stress in a cat's eyes before. Imagine kids chasing the poor creatures in a 10x5 m space, where the cats cannot flee the scene. I felt bad for the cats and felt guilty to be part of the unnatural level of stress they have to experience. Milk shakes are really tasty and the staff friendly. @ staff: for the mental health of the cats and the peace of heart of the other customers you should consider limiting the number of kids that can enter the bar @ travelers: try visiting when few people and no families are in the barMore

I loved going there! I loved being with all the cats and seeing them roaming around! We can pet them. The cats are beautiful and well cared for. It's very calming and peaceful. The only drawback is that the music is a little bit too...loud. Maybe classical music would have been a better choice.More
