The location of this restaurant/ Guest House is fantastic. In a secluded walled garden fronting the beach, you can seat at the lovely rustic tables and chairs and while away the hours. I visited the Ice Bear three times, once for an evening drink with friends, once for lunch and finally for a "Captain Table" western style dinner. The place... More

We only went here a couple of times for drinks in the garden but it was an intriguing place and we would have been happy to stay there. It is Swiss owned and has good ethics

They have quite good meal options at this guesthouse restaurant, including typically Swiss meals (Roesti and Muesli) as well as coconut juice from their trees in the garden. Don't offer any local food options which is a pity as all the chefs in the kitchen are Sri Lankan... Also one issue is that they have shark on the menu, which... More

Been here for a quick drink. Very nice location on the beach, really polite waiters. But after a quick glimpse at the menu, I saw they serve shark meat. Since it's a western owned place I was shocked. Sharks are endangered spieces , and even if fish consumption should be reduced in total, offering sharks in 2017 is really irresponsible... More

We have stayed here and eaten in the restaurant and both are excellent. The staff are attentive and very helpful. It has been one of our highlights of our tour of Sri Lanka.

We started and finished our three week travels round Sri Lanka here. It is a real haven. Comfortable, interesting rooms, all differently furnished and a lovely garden facing the sea. Lots of places to sit and read or chat. The food is delicious and always served beautifully. Try the muesli for breakfast, it's delicious and photogenic. Staff could not be... More

Lovely garden restaurant but it's a pity the food doesn't quite live up to the ambience trying to be created. Limited menu of mediocre food which is over priced. Service is OK but not very welcoming and as we left, we seemed to be escorted off the premises. Did they think we were going to steal a statue?

The food is delicious and the waiters are super friendly. Tons of fresh fruit and plenty of variety. Great filter coffee. Dining is al fresco and the sea breeze is nice. Both European and Sri Lankan choices on the menu.

When we lunched here it wasn't busy, apparently only one server and one cook. The server forgot my wife's order, had to be asked when mine arrived alone. You can eat better in many other places for less.
