We were fortunate to stay at the Amangalla for 3 nights and eat here twice. A wonderfully appointed dining room that takes you back in time. The food was lovely.

My husband and I indulged in afternoon/high tea here this afternoon. I thought it was quite expensive (5500Rps) but we had a huge amount of food including scones (with the most delicious jam), sandwiches, mini samosa's & quiches, and 7 little mini cakes, all served on a 3 tier stand. And tea of course. I skipped lunch in preparation and... More

I certainly recommend a meal here or high tea. Just to soak up the atomosphere. The meals I had were very average. The tuna fish chunk with a bit of "gotukola leaves" was a real cheating excercise as far as the price was concerned (15 USD). For Sri Lankan prices this is an outrage. And you still feel hungry afterwards.... More

We had looked forward to our visit to Zaal in Galle and it did not disappoint. We had cocktails in the colonial bar which cost 1000 LKR (4.50 GBP) which is expensive for Galle but not for a top hotel. While they had plenty of other things on the menu we opted for the curry and noted that each order... More

I don't understand all the positive reviews here...Yes, the restaurant is lovely and is located in the Aman, but for me, the positives ended right there. The menu offers a curry sampler plate and a choice of 3 Western appetizers and 3 Western entrees. I chose to order off of the Western menu and was very disappointed with the quality... More

We actually stayed in the hotel and therefore ate a few times in the restaurant which served amazing dishes. My tuna with pomela salad was absolutely perfect. But if you would like to try the curries - they serve a curry of the day each lunch (the dahl was the best I ever had) and in the evening they serve... More

This is definitely the smartest and most formal location in Galle though they did not complain that i was wearing shorts for dinner. The setting was very colonial with open windows and ceiling fans and lots of white jacketed waiters. The food was really good and came in large quantities and the wine list was not at all over priced.... More

They have only a few items on the menu, but they do them well. The spaghetti with lobster was divine, so was my Sri Lankan curry meal. Service was excellent. A lovely balcony with a very colonial feel.
