Sungsimdang Bakery is arguably the most popular tourist sight in Daejeon and definitely the busiest place in Daejeon. Even the satellite locations have non stop flow of customers throughout its opening hours. The best known product is their deep fried soboro bread (which has streusel-like upper crust) filled with red bean or sweet potato paste which were a bit too greasy for me. We also tried their sticky rice donut, melon bread, and even their pizza which were all above average. While always busy, the staff were quite efficient and the wait wasn’t long despite the huge number of customers.

DCC branch’s one other thing was that it has a variety of sandwiches and plenty of stock compared to other branches. For example, you have to wait a long time to eat a meat wrap sandwich at Lotte Department Store. But you can buy it right away here, which has a lot of sandwiches. There are many types of sandwiches and some of the most famous core breads, but the types of bread themselves are not diverse. But when the expansion is over and various breads start coming into the store, It’s well worth a visit. Highly recommended!

I was in Daejeon for about 2 weeks and went to this bakery almost daily. So many of their items are tasty. I enjoyed every bit of it and all of the food was incredibly cheap.
