This is right next to the Lark Street bus kiosk, where I pick up my stepson from campus in Schenectady. The menu intrigued me. So last night I ordered and got the Combination Vegetarian plate for $11. Hummus, Baba Ganoush, stuffed grape leaves, falafel, salad,...and warm pita halves. First of all, those were the best stuffed grape leaves I’ve ever had! The hummus was nice and creamy, the baba ganoush lightly spicy (I have baby mouth, so it was fine), the two large falafel were tender and moist (for falafel…let’s face it, falafel are not like Italian meatballs), the salad was nicely diced lettuce and tomatoes. And they give you a generous portion of pita bread, nice and warm. I’m definitely going to try more items from Mamoun’s.More

We were visiting Albany and looking for a Middle Eastern food and found Mamoun's - so glad we did. The food we ordered (tabouli, falafel, falafel pita, the mixed vegetarian platter with hummus, baba ghanouj, and salad) was amazing. We have eaten a lot of...falafel and so often run into dry, or not flavorful falafel, not the case here - it was great. The other dishes were also well flavored, had a good texture, and were delicious. Would definitely go back (our 6-year old also loved it!). (We also appreciated their carefulness with COVID - takeout only and masks required at the time that we went in mid-July).More

It was a rainy night after having arrived late on a flight from Baltimore. My family who picked me up and I were very hungry, and my brother remembered hearing this place advertised on the radio. So we gave it a try and were more...than pleased. The food was superb. And the owner went out of his way to make sure we understood the menu and were ordering what we wanted, since I have some food allergies. It is Syrian/Lebanese cuisine. The service was prompt and the food seemed homemade and just cooked. We had a relaxed and happy evening there.More

Have been visiting Mamoun's about once a month for the past year, and I have yet to be disappointed. Grape leaves, falafel, and lamb are always perfect. In addition, this restaurant has a quiet and relaxing atmosphere with traditional music playing in the background. Great...place to have a conversation and enjoy a meal.More

Stopped here an a rainy Sunday for lunch. We ordered a grilled eggplant and falafel pita sandwich, a lamb falafel pita and an order of tabouli. All were fantastic! The eggplant sandwich was so good I could not stop at half even though I was...full! I finished every morsel! The service was a bit slow, but we were not in a hurry so had time to chat and relax. Can’t wait to go back!More

We had different dishes all cooked with lamb and enjoyed them all. The falafel appetizer and honey cake dessert were good too. Prices were reasonable and service friendly. Planing to return often.

Mamoun's Cafe is a mainstay on Washington Street, having been in business for many years. On a recommendation from a friend, we arrived on a Friday night at peak dining hour to find a nearly empty restaurant where the decor is a bit tired. As...such, service was quick to take our order and our falafel appetizers arrived quickly. Honestly, the falafel was the highlight of the evening. These were well seasoned and the tahini sauce made these special. But, the entrees were disappointing. I ordered the couscous with an upcharge of $4 to include their lamb. The couscous served as the base of the dish, but was plain and unseasoned. The steamed seasonal vegetables were overcooked and mushy, and a single lamb patty, cut into four wedges, was the only protein to accompany the meal. By judiciously cutting the quarters into sixteenths, I was able to enjoy the combination in a single bit. Well, enjoy might not be the best term because, without the accompanying red sauce, the entree was a bit tasteless. Maybe it was the dish I ordered, because the restaurant rates well on Tripadvisor.More

I came for a late lunch (around 12:30) and it was not at all crowded. I sat at the bar and was waited on immediately by a very friendly man. I ordered the Kefta Kebob sandwich, which is a seasoned lamb patty served with lettuce,...tomato and tahini in pita bread. It was so delicious! Finished off the meal with wonderful baklava! Very reasonably priced too!More

This is a true gem of a restaurant in Albany. The music is quite nice (Arabic music), tea is really good, and the food has always been fresh and full of flavor. Highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. This was a great introduction for us to Lebanese/Syrian food. The lamb and zucchini dish was especially good, but the baklava was even better. Interesting artwork in the restaurant too.

Take your time and enjoy. Falafel is excellent as is the rest of the food. The place is never crowded. I know they do a fair bit of takeout but I never see more than a few dinners at lunchtime. I did come once with...a group and it was too much for the small staff. Took forever. But for a family or couple, it's perfect.More

My wife and I had just finished doing a protest march and decided to grab a little lunch. We'd heard of this place for years but never stopped so we figured, why not. It's in downtown Albany in an old building with the original tin...ceilings. The menu was classic Middle Eastern with kebobs, hummus, stuffed grape leaves and so on. We each got a falafel plate which came with a smallish falafel sandwich in a pta with a side of fresh hummus and pita chips for dipping along with some awesome pickled carrots. Everything was fresh, well made and d great flavor. Service was good, bathrooms were clean and the place was nicely laid out. I could have used a slightly bigger sandwich but no real complaint there. Prices were reasonable too.More

Unsuspecting little restaurant. It was empty when my coworkers and I came in for lunch around noon. Very reasonable prices and delicious food! I ordered the eggplant and falafel sandwich platter. The sandwich was served fresh and hot with delicious pita chips and hummus. Perfect...portions. The service was a little slow and we were a little upset that our waiter didn't inform us about their credit card minimum until we went to check out, but we will still be back. I definitely recommend!More

Had the combination plate with lamb kebob - everything was both authentic and delicious! Husband had kebob platter and down to the rice (not just plain white rice, but wonderfully spiced) was excellent. Will definitely return and highly recommend.
