My salmon and steak dish, accompanied by succulent green beans and robust mashed potatoes, exceeded my expectations. Service was superb. The menu is classic seafood and steak -- you won't find any fusion, foam, or too trendy innovations. On a Tuesday night, it was not crowded and noise levels were low. The Atlantic salmon dish was fresh and tasty. Old... More

The staff always greet you like you are family. The food is consistently good. The wait staff will go the extra mile for any request. The "old" Albany ambiance and pictures are worth the trip.

Jack's is an old school steak and oyster house. The ambiance is fantastic: very fifties vibe with wooden booths, velvet accents and formal tableware. Many pictures of Albany from decades past adorn the walls. Our server, Liv, figured out how to make me a Bloody Caesar! Our steaks were done to perfection and we had ample portions. I would happily... More

We ate at Jack's on July 4th so as we were going to the fireworks display we ate earlier than normal (about 5:30pm). The restaurant was much more spacious than it looked from the outside with tables in booths and standard tables which gave a good choice. There was also a varied menu which included calves liver which is very... More

The hotel we stayed at recommended this place because it is oldest restaurant in Albany. It is an old fashion steak and seafood place but I thought it was overpriced for the quality of the food. A filet mignon is $38. The filet itself was ok but definitely not the best I had. The sides were terrible though. Dry mashed... More

Had a perfect meal at Jack's this week. We came here often in the 1990s. Steak Diane was cooked to perfection, and my husband really enjoyed his codfish. Our waiter Bill was very friendly and attentive to all our needs. Can't wait to return. Thanks.

We went for dinner. The restaurant appears to be a long-standing Albany institution with lots of interesting historical photos of the city around the walls and a charming, slightly old-world feel about the decor. Service was prompt, attentive and efficient. For starters we ordered half a dozen Exotic Ltd., oysters and 1/2 a dozen Joe's Special oysters both of which... More

My husband and I had a very nice dinner. The 2.5 lb lobster was the best he ever had. My steak was perfectly prepared with a blue cheese crust. Sides were just as tasty. Service was great and was a very nice treat for a special night out. Chocolate cake was just okay. I would choose another dessert. Very nice... More

Way overpriced! I had surf & turf very small filet and a tiny half of lobster tail ( one bite) with a stuffing ugh! $39 I don't mind paying for something if it's good, but this place did nothing for me.

Jack's is over 100 years old, and yo can feel the decades and a century's worth of customers when you walk in. Dark wood, leather booths, fine cutlery, etc. This is not some fern and exposed brick eatery, but the real thing. The menu is VERY conservative; steaks, lobster, oysters, and other seafood. Entrees are ot cheap (29.00+) but this... More
