We went on Thanksgiving - glad they were open - very busy. I felt a bit underdressed - lots of sparkly dresses, suits, etc. The staff was fine - forgot a couple things and what I ordered wasn't available. Though it's called Jack's "Oyster" House, the emphasis is on meat and we don't eat red meat (we do eat fish)... More

We were in the area for a concert at the Palace . Jacks is the feature Restaurant for The Holiday Inn Express. When you stay there you get a 10% discount. We were reluctant at first to go as there were no prices listed on the menu. There was an alternate restaurant that had very good reviews. We got a... More

After a long stroll through the city we arrived at Jack's around 6 pm without reservation and - as we thought - not quite wearing the proper attire (jeans and sneakers - though obviously clean).  Yet, we were given a friendly smile and were shown to a booth table. Our waitress was attentive and quick. The atmosphere was nostalgic (interesting framed fotos... More

I've meant many times to visit Jacks while passing thru Albany but never had the chance. I finally visited for a lunch and loved it. The place is historic but also serves great food. Service is top notch too. If only the walls could talk and tell you it's history. Can't wait to return.

This is a very good restaurant. It has been in existence for over 100 years. I particularly like the little bar they have outside the dining room. Professional bartenders that can make almost anything you can think of. Food is very good

Stopped in on a Friday for cocktails and even though the bar was empty, it quickly filled up with some very nice people, who were friendly. The bartender was very nice and the service was great. Plan on going back for dinner.

Top menu as always. Tuxedo waiters, candles, linens, coat check, all the basics are covered. There's also a side door leading to a Bar that serves Bar food in a lesser atmosphere to be comfortable. Chef's are always listed in the top 10 in the area, Parking can be a hassel, there is no real "Lot". Be prepaired to spend... More

Jack's Oyster House was the place the states' politicians frequented back in the day. It's only a couple of blocks from the State Capitol building. The food and atmosphere are both great! The seafood chowder with seven kinds of seafood is amazing!!

High level place in a club-like setting in downtown Albany NY. Superb filet mignon and well prepared but service was uneven and slow. Great bar was expertly staffed. Quite expensive.

At a recent visit to Jack's I attempted to order a dinner special, Fresh Tuna served over pasta, since I'm avoiding eating carbs I asked for the Tuna to be served over vegetables. The waiter replied that the chef will not make substitutions. Really in this day an age where people are looking for gluten free options, or are looking... More
