Coming out of COVID it is great to be able to meet friends for lunch again! I have lived here for years but never made it here. Large outdoor patio….gets crowded and no reservations taken so allow time. I have had the same thing each...time, the swordfish salad. A generous piece of swordfish atop a large fresh salad with a choice of many dressings all served routinely on the side. Great iced tea, cheerfully refilled. Will return. Only minor complaint is that there is no bread served with the salad however either oyster crackers or Italian bread (with seasoned butter) was provided. Anxious to come for dinner.More

Food at Lanie's Cafe is good for lunch or dinner, and portions are generous. One may dine inside or out. Service is average. On our last visit, a warm evening, everyone in our party got their drinks, while I had to wait a while to...get a glass of water. Unfortunately, that same evening the server spilled a glass of beer on my husband, and then spilled another drink at the table. She replaced the drinks, which she called "free refills." They were not free, just replaced after she spilled them. She did apologize; however, an appetizer or something on the house would have been a nice gesture. We did not make a fuss because accidents do happen. I guess the squeaky wheel gets rewarded.More

My colleagues and I were in Albany for a conference. Not being from the area makes it difficult to know where to go for food, especially when trying to avoid chains. I did a quick Google search and hoped for the best when we chose...this restaurant. We were all happy we did! We were seated immediately, although the restaurant was really busy. The food was delicious and portions so big we all had leftovers. Our waitress was amazingly great and went above and beyond. The manager or owners came around to also ensure everything was good. If I'm ever in the area I would definitely return!More

Stopped in on a Thursday at lunch time and was seated immediately. Staff was very young but competent. Waitress was very friendly. Our party of four were all impressed with our food selections. I had a meatball hoagie that was excellent. Wife ordered the chicken...minestrone soup and salad bar. She raved about the soup. Portions were big enough that 3 of us brought boxes home. Only criticism I can come up with is that the square/rectangular dishes take up limited table top space, and as such our plates were pretty cramped. Otherwise a very pleasant outing.More

Waiting time for a table was reasonable ~20 minutes. However, when seated, the server ignored our table for a while. Once we ordered, drinks took at least 15-20 minutes to arrive. Rarely do I find myself wondering aloud at a restaurant, "it would be nice...to have some drinks right about now", but this was certainly a time for it. Food took a reasonable amount of time to arrive - no complaints there. Ordered the corned beef and cabbage dinner special for St. Patty's day weekend and it was OK, but a bit disappointing in presentation, and it was expensive. Once we were finished, we had to wait a while longer for the bill. Paid with a gift card (and a credit card to cover the extras), but the server charged the credit card first, leaving the gift card with money on it. Why would you do that?? Had to get the manager to fix it. The server seemed really spaced out. There were a lot of people working here, but we just didn't get much attention - lots of waiting for the server to do her job. I don't plan on coming back. Spent 2+ hours for a restaurant experience that didn't deserve that much of my time (this is not a fine dining experience where you would expect that kind of time).More

Ordered the eggplant parmesan in marinara sauce. It had a horrible after taste. Asked staff if the sauce had meat and was told no. Then asked specifically if the eggplant was cooked with meat and a few minutes later the waitress came back to say...yes, in fact it is cooked with chicken grease. She did not offer a replacement item and charged us the full $23 for the dish that was left almost untouched (other than tasting to learn it was revolting). They sat new diners within three feet from us (pulled our table for four apart just a couple feet during out meal). So during Covid19 we are all sitting close to each other unmasked. I regrettably left an 18% tip and was pleasant and polite throughout our experience. When we got up to leave, the waitress was standing at the stable that was pulled apart from ours and did not even say good-bye or thank you. Although we've lived here with our large family for decades, I have stayed away from Lanie's after getting a fish dish that was cold in the center. I did not say anything, paid and stayed away for years. Now I'm spreading the word to my family and friends that this place is just awful.More

So our food came in huge portions. Salad bar has the homemade croutons I love. Service was excellent. The downer was the tomato sauce. My apologies if the sauce is made there, but if so, they have managed to recreate Ragu to a T.

On a Saturday night, the outdoor seating was full so we were placed back by the bar. Chelsie was with us quickly and retrieved our drinks promptly. Wife's Linguine w/ clam sauce had a generous portion of fresh clams as well as a nice mix...of chopped clams. My Haddock Florentine was to die for. A large portion of fish with lemon sauce and fresh spinach. The accompanying fried potatoes and zucchini were a bonus. We both left with doggy bags. Beer and wine were fairly priced. We had not been here in quite some time, but we will return sooner - that's for sure.More

We went to Lanie's early so we could get a table. Joshua was our server and was very patient. We told him we were not in a rush since this was our first outing since the Covid started. The food was excellent and the service...even better. Not only was Jashua patient but has a sense of humor. This is so important when dealing with the public. He is an asset to the restaurant.More

Lanie’s serves a wide variety of lunch and dinner choices: sandwiches and salads to great entrees. Their bruschetta is an amazing compilation of focaccia and toppings. The entrees are big sized - take home for all. We had a filet that was tender, tasty and...some to go. We could exist on appetizers alone. Hope to be back.More

Was recommended by a family friend as I live in New Jersey! My parents were celebrating their 60 th Anniversary and as my mother is quite ill and bedridden we needed a local caterer. I ordered a delicious veggie tray, crab salad sandwiches and chicken...parm. My mistake for not asking to see the packaged chicken.- the breading was burned the chicken was swimming in sauce! Inedible, and the indicator was that one serving was taken from the sheet pan! Several guests commented that this was not the usual fare from Lainies. I debated for 2 days and called the restaurant- Kelly ( the owner) answered the phone and after 17 minutes of her continually saying - I am sorry you feel that way, well so happy that guests told you this is not our usual standard, I mentioned that she should make sure this does not go out to another customer-it is clear the job was rushed and burned! I am not a complainer normally! I gave Kelly every opportunity to ask me “ how can I make this right..... not once in a 20 minute call we’re those words spoken! BTW. I was expecting nothing! I prepaid for my order 3 days ahead of time and gave a nice tip as well-my husband is in the food business in NY and NJ and I know how hard and how much struggle there is in good times let alone during Covid! As the owner Kelly certainly did not exude an owners mentality! May I suggest she read Danny Meyers Book SETTING THE TABLE! She was given the opportunity during a 20 minute phone call...... she danced around..... in return she gets this review from me,More

If you put your current information on your website it would have helped my dissapointment and our guests. I know places are struggling, but information is key.Still turned out o.k.,Thankyou Warehouse bbq for a greatdinner and drinks.....More

Overall great experience. The pizzas are large, the salads are huge and the French onion soup was the perfect start. It is a little on the sweet side, but with the cheese it worked well. I would highly encourage for you to get all the...dressings on the side for the salad as they can be a little heavy-handed with the pour. The croutons were simply perfect, I would purchase them to take home if I could. We will definitely be back while we are in town. It’s such a big menu with a large variety. There’s something for everyone!More

I can't remember seeing gluten free on the menu for pasta. However the menu is quite extensive, and this restaurant seems to me like they would definitely have gluten free options.
