This Japanese restaurant is visually appealing, both inside & outside. It's been transformed in a location where a Burger King used to be. Hubby didn't care for the flavor of the seafood broth in his Seafood Udon soup. Of course, maybe he would have enjoyed the flavor of a different udon soup better... My shrimp teriyaki lunch box was fine. They let me substitute clear soup, which I prefer, for the miso soup which came with it. The only disappointment was that the fruit in the box I was served was just canned, instead of fresh (e.g., slices of orange).

Convenient location near our hotel; easy access off Wolf Rd with plenty of parking. Not the most attractive venue from either outside or inside. Service was fast and efficient but not the most friendly or personable. Salads were definitely green--all there was was iceberg lettuce with way too much dressing which was overwhelmingly sweet versus the usual ginger dressing. Hibachi chicken and shrimp with rice, mixed veggies and udong noodles would have been very good however, it also was too sweet! Similarly, the fried rice with beef and shrimp was sweet as well. Both dishes were huge in portion size, had fresh ingredients, were attractively served BUT were compromised by the chef's penchant to overly sweeten everything!!! Prices were very reasonable but wish chef would eliminate the "sweet touch"!!!!

Such a wonderful place -there is a bar with all the sports TV's, there are Hibachi tables and quiet private dining they have it all! And the food ...WOW! I advise starting with the Shrimp Shumai and the Shrimp Tempura Have the house salad with ANYTHING Rolls-Duck roll, Samurai. Godzilla, Manhattan roll, Mongolian beef roll. Just suggestions I love but that's just me, experiment and enjoy!!!

Stayed in a nearby hotel and grabbed take out lunch. Great $10 special with main dish, teriyaki veg, sushi rolls, salad, rice and gyoza/edamame. Lots of food.. Tasty and fast. They were nice enough to accommodate our vegetarian in the party with substitutes and thoughtful suggestions. Would definitely go back next time we are in town.

Overpriced, not cleaned well and very rude staff. When the server came to my table I was choking on a piece of food lodged in my throat. She didn’t ask if I was ok nor offer any first aid. Instead she walked away and never came back. When I spoke with them later they couldn’t care less and barely offered an apology. Some of the staff act as though customers are a huge imposition to them. This was a very disappointing experience. It was not my first time dining there but it may be my last. I do not recommend this restaurant.

I hope that the clearly agitated bartender that was working tonight (Tues 6/22) is not a representative of ownership. I sat at half empty bar about 830 and asked for large hot saki and a menu. Bartender seemed out of sorts and almost annoyed that I was sitting ordering food. I asked for saki/menu a second time and he said saki only came in one size so I said OK. He then put menu in front of me and said he’d have to set a placing and I should probably go to table area?? Confused, I said - no, for the third time, I’d like a saki. This completely set him off and he yelled what I meant about the ”third time”? I told him it was the third time I had asked for saki and he said to get the F out. I then left. Guy is a loose cannon.

Walking from my parking spot to the front door I almost turned around. The food is just fine. If they'd spend 15 minutes cleaning up the grounds and entranceway they'd probably triple their business.

I visitrd for lunch. Very fresh sushi and sashimi. The miso soup and salad were both also very delicious. The portions were generous and price was very reasonable. Everything was prepared well and the quality of the food was topnotch. Almost went to the Wasabi chain place...glad I stopped here instead. Will definitely go back.

Really a very good experience overall. Food was tasty and good quality steak and shrimp. Sushi chef was good at entertaining our kids under 10. In spite of using a coupon for four (good deal), so much food everyone took LARGE take home boxes. Happy hour is worth getting a drink at the (very small) bar before dinner. (No happy hour once seated.) Get wine or saki as the mixed drinks were not exactly flowing with alcohol. Four instead of five stars only because the hostess was a bit of a sourpuss who seemed to be inconvenienced by our visit. But the rest of the staff was friendly and accommodating. We'll go back.

We were here a few years ago for hibachi with some friends. But this year we've been coming for dinner & drinks. I think three times in the last two months. This a full service Japanese restaurant with top shelf bar offering rare sake, whiskey, scotch, & tequila. Beer & wine also available. It has at least six hibachi stations, a large dining area, and a 10 seat bar. We like to sit at the bar for two reasons: the bartender, JP is professional, helpful, & entertaining and you get to watch the pros make the sushi, sashimi, rolls, and these wonderfully extravagant house special seafood dishes & boats. These guys are really good. It would take a year to try everything they offer. The freshness & presentation are five star. Too many items to list but their website is the place to start. One visit was Sat. 10/23/21 5:30pm. Jerry, the owner took care of us. We ordered drinks and tried to decide what to eat. I had my favorite TomYum Shrimp Soup ($6.50). I've had this at many other places but this is the best-spicy, flavorful, and consistently perfect. I also had a great Godzilla roll-Shrimp tempura scallions avocado inside, BBQ eel on top ($15). My bride very much enjoyed her Chicken Teriyaki ($16) and took half of the dish home. Our next visit was Fri 11/12/21 6pm. JP greeted us and poured our drinks. Prime seats for the sushi creating show. My bride again ordered her go to dish-chicken teriyaki. I again had the Tom Yum Shrimp soup-perfect. But changed it up by ordering two apps. Tempura oysters ($7) & duck drumettes ($8). Duck was excellent. The oysters were OK, but were way behind the duck from the kitchen. When I mentioned to JP how good their Tom Yum is he called over the owner, Jerry so I could tell him how great was their soup. He thanked us and then told us a valuable tip when comparing Asian-style restaurants - have the hot & sour soup. He says it must be consistently excellent. And also, if it's not good they're probably not doing other things on their menu well either. So another great visit to a highly recommended restaurant. We'll be back. Looks to be at least a once a month here so far. Excellent food & drinks. Top shelf service. And a masterful show by the sushi chefs. Thank you JP, Jerry & staff. Nicola P & Liz Farrell, Albany, NY

We hadn't been here during the pandemic. And we didn't get takeout during that time. So this was our first time back in two years. Previously had a great experience sharing hibachi w/ friends. We walked in and asked to be seated at the bar. We were greeted by the bartender/server JP. He brought our drinks, let us slowly go over the menu, and was very helpful explaining all the nuances of the sushi, sashimi, & rolls. I started off w/ the Tom Yum shrimp soup ($6). Excellent balance of flavors w/ the right amount of heat. Gets a 5-star recommendation. My bride had the edamame ($5). Then she ordered her fav Beef Nagamaki ($8.50) & a cucumber roll ($3.50). She's ordered this at other place and said that was tender and a bit more flavorful than the others. Under JP's guidance I chose an eel & a yellowtail tuna roll ($3.50 ea.) Eel had an almost smoky flavor (umami?) and the tuna had a bright, fresh flavor. They offer many choices for sushi & sashimi. I finished off w/ the spicy crab roll ($8.50) - BAZINGA. Perfect presentation, temperature of food & plates, & timing at a leisurely pace. We had a two Sapporo draft beers ($6 ea.) & two glasses of wine ($7 ea.) We felt that this was great value for the price. Open M-Th 11am-10pm, F-Sat 11am-11pm, Sun 12pm-10pm. The Samurai is on a busy strip w/ lots of retail, five minutes from the airport, hotels businesses & restaurants. So locals & visitors have lots of dining choices. The Samurai stands out amongst the sea of chain restaurants on this strip. We highly recommend this independent restaurant when in the area. Arigato gozaimasu! JP and all the staff at The Samurai. A wonderful place! Good selection of saki and an extensive sushi menu. The Bento boxes are a great value with a tremendous amount of food. The staff while quiet, are always attentive.

My daughter and I had sushi, and crab rangoon. It was pretty good. The place is lovely, with hibachi, etc. Typical fare. Nice place to go for special occasions, but also booths for regular dinners. I'd go back and try other things. Nice servers. Quiet when we went, private, nice experience.

Enjoyed the hibachi but the sushi is sub-par (there are way better places nearby) and the Pad Thai I had recently was barely edible.
