I love the new renovation, but the food is no better than it was. Everything is expensive at this spot. They seem to get orders wrong more than they should. The soups always seem to be the same flavors. The bread is good, but, again, overpriced. This is really an upscale Panera. But, I like the food at Panera better.

Dear Travelling Lilly2014: Thank you for taking time to review Bountiful Bread. Glad you like the renovation. Our commitment to scratch baked soups, breads, sandwiches and salads made by chefs does drive costs a little higher than our competition where soup comes from a bag, breads are only par-baked onsite, and preservatives dominate. We could compete on price with the... More

This place used to serve PANINI sandwiches which were LARGE, with HIGH QUALITY bread, and fine ingredients. They still have “Panini” all over the menu, but on two recent visits, all we got is modest-sized sandwiches on ORDINARY SUPERMARKET BREAD. Bah. The ingredients are still good, but the “panini” promise, splashed all over the place, is PHONEY.

Dear Corindo: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry to read that you were disappointed with your panini sandwich. We continue to make all of our bread - including the panini bread - from scratch in our on-site bakery. I have sent a private message to you. I would appreciate any specific feedback about your... Although the restaurant has refigured the physical plan to make ordering easier, the wait is still too long. Can they get more help behind the counter? I actually haven't been there for a while because of this problem but I returned today with a friend to find the food good but the service still in need of help. The presentation... More

Dear Sheila: Thank you for your review. First let me tell you that you're dead right. We need more good people at Bountiful Bread. As you may see from my comments on the 9/5 review, August/September is a major transition period for our college age staff. Many of our summer staffers left Bountiful to retturn to school beginning August 15th.... More

First visit here. I'm not from the area and I was looking for a place I could meet a friend and sit outside with my dog. While nothing special, they do have outdoor seating, although while we were sitting there for 2 hours, many tables of people came and went and no server ever came outside to bus or wipe... More

Dear Panama2000: Thank you writing a review of Bountiful Bread. It appears that you visited us in the beginning of September, and I think your primary concern was the staffing. We are very fortunate to have a great team of people working at Bountiful Bread, and we regularly receive excellent comments about their commitment, sincerity, and knowledge. That said, late... Can't begin to say how disappointed we were with the quality of the bread today. My wife and I ordered two sandwiches to-go, and as we waited for our order we started to notice how pale and un "old world" style the bread looked on the display racks. The bread here was always nicely crusted and hearty, but no more.... More

Dear Guilderland Bob: Thanks for reaching out to us. We haven't changed anything with our bread recipes, bakers, or process. Noah has been our head baker for about 16 years now, and he continues to make bread and oversee his team. Nevertheless, as a bread guy, you probably know that making bread from scratch is as much art as science.... More

Lots of salads and sandwiches with the personal touch not found in the chain restaurants of cuisine. All meals are large, so keep that in mind when ordering.

The pros... This restaurant is in a large strip mall, Stuyvesant Plaza, so there's plenty of parking. You order at a counter & when they call your name, you pick up your food. It's casual like a Panera Bread in that you can sit there for a while if you want to chat. As this place started as a bakery... More

My family ate here recently as we passed through Albany. We had eaten here before and were not disappointed we came back again. I had the spicy tuna sandwich and it was excellent. I'm an anti-Panera Bread person, so was a little reluctant to go here, however my family talked me in to it. I'm very glad we went, food was great, a little pricey for sandwiches, but a much better deal and way better food than Panera.
