for all the native Surabayans.. this place is quite legendary. I must say the taste though was slightly changing, I prefer the old rustic flavors not so millennial ones. This place is considered the most famous seafood restaurant in East side of Surabaya. They have plenty of fish tanks full of live seafood so you can handpick your own sea creatures before they served it on your dining table. I love the grilled prawns the most, they have this big tiger prawns (wild guess, sorry not a seafood expert). But they got so many varieties and sauces for seafood to your liking. Beware of the crazy lunch and dinner time, this place was super packed and car parking could be challenging. My family and colleagues love this place because they got big tables and also the service is pretty fast. Not so children friendly, I assume. Unless it's a big toddlers or so.

Very Good Seafood Restaurant

The chilly crabs and lobsters was well cooked to international standard. The steam fish was good and oysters was unique. The best kangkong that I have, was not over cooked and still leave a bit of crunch to the stem. Although it is pricy, it was worth a try.

I visited this restaurant with friends several times. The dishes taste great, cooked from fresh seafood. I love the crab. Worth the price. This place always full at the lunch and dinner time. Waitress are polite, very good service. Better make a reservation before coming.

Very bad service and bad management

We ordered more than 60 minutes and we kept asking the waiter serval times and her supervisor and just giving us this yellow smile while thd food dishes going around us. I encourage you to check other branches and to ensure following your order every 5 minutes. Very poor service, despite good food

Not worth it, try other restaurants

Very terrible service, think they treat westerners better than Asian. The food is ok but the price is cut throat, it's not worth the money spent. Other seafood restaurants that I tried another day is much cheaper and better service. Won't recommend anyone to go.

They offer seafood, live and frozen. Quite a variety and a spacious and comfortable place. In my opinion and being Indonesia, I thought the value for money was bad. The seafood is not what I expected, due to the way it is cooked, very different from what we are used to, given that everything was prepared with very powerful sauces that hide the flavors of the main product, in our case grouper, clams and lobster.

Good quality seafood and affordable

Our first visit to Layar and this was very good compared to other seafood restaurants we tried on this trip. We had different live fish, clams and mussels. All turned out very well and flavorful. The service was good and prices very affordable. Worth another visit soon.

The Best Seafood in Surabaya

Very recommended seafood restaurant in Surabaya. Try the Crab with Padang Sauce. This is the best ever food that I've ever try. I suggest you to make reservation first because the restaurant was very busy. The price was value of money. There were two branches in Surabaya ( east and west Surabaya ). This is one of the must visit restaurant when I go to Surabaya.

The best Seafood place

Any time visiting Surabaya, eat at Layar is a must. You will be shown all the living sea creature and fresh seafood on the aquarium and containers to choose from. And all are so delicious and no wander they are always crowded

Good Taste, Good Location

Since the restaurant move in to the new place, it's more enjoyable resto. The taste is never change, so delicious and all seafood cooked perfectly. Crabs and lobster is a must!

This place was recommended by Arjun a friend and tour guide helper. He showed us the way by driving us there. The ambience of the place is gd. The food order arrived a bit late. But service was not bad.
