Loved everything here. The food was (always) great, from grilled squid to steamed fish, was super delicious. Crab, prawn, and any kinds of exotic fish could be found in the aquarium. I have visited Layar Seafood at Dukuh Pakis , Surabaya, surprisedly, it was different look with the photo library in TripAdvisor. Layar Seafood is A beautiful Restaurant outside and inside , with a friendly staff. I ordered Singapore Chili Crab, Grill Bali Calm and Smoke...Pakis with Shrimp. The taste is pretty strong with sweet and salty that cant make you eat without steam rice. Why Is The Fresh Crab meat tasted in a normal temperature degree not tasted hot whether it has cooked already ? Delicious enough and the price is fair. I came as a walk in guest , and choose the smoking room with a beautiful view whether I am not a smoker and have a tolerance with that. My second surprise was suddenly a crowd of 7 people came into the dinning smoking room table and smoke together in there, beside my table, they were talking, laughing and calling as if nobody guest in there. It would be really appreciated if the Layar Seafood could make a real smoking room to accommodate the smoker.More

We had made a reservation and we got there, our table wasn't ready....The staff wasn't quick enough to come up with a solution for our group and we were let standing while they figured things out. We had dinner here with our colleagues and ordered various seafoods, such as oysters, shrimps, mantises, crabs, fish skins and squids, plus veggies. We finished them all because they were all extraordinary, not only the sauces and the spices that came with them, but also...the quality of the seafoods themselves; they tasted fresh to me. We went after reading the reviews and was not disappointed. Service was good even though, no one spoke any English. Very helpful staff as the manager helped me to 'Grab' transport back to the hotel. They had live seafood and the seafood per gram (ONS...in Indonesian). We had the following:- Jumbo Crab 6ONS at 42500/ONS and it worked out to be 255,000IDR Garoupa Fish 5.2ONS at 29000/ONS equals 150,000IDR Squid Baked at 62,500IDR Jambu Juice at 17.500IDR Sprite at 10,000IDR 2 plates of rice at 12,000IDR They gave one piece of Mantau together with the crab. And charged 9,500IDR for 2 extra pieces of mantau. Overall it was pretty cheap.More
