I was so excited to go to this popular restaurant because I heard the food are so delicious here. Therefore, when i get the chance to visit Solo on my business trip I immediately reserved a place to eat here with my colleagues. I have...booked the place for 20 people 2 weeks in advance to make sure I will have a place to eat there. After 2 weeks and i am supposed to go to the restaurant this week, and I wanted to confirm about my order, the restaurant suddenly said that they are fully booked because there will be an event for 100 people. I was baffled and I am so dissapointed with this treatment because knowing that I already booked it in advance. The restaurant excuse is that the event already paid the down payment for this. But as I am also a customer (who is also can give them the down payment if they ask it in the first place), I am so upset that the restaurant doesn't even ask me whether they can cancel my booking or not. I am not even sure the restaurant have any intention to contact me about my booking because they only notify me today after I follow up with them about my booking. If i didn't follow up about my reservation maybe I will find out about my booking cancellation when I arrived happily there thinking I will finally try the delicious food there.More

It is rather expensive for the city but still better value than the hotel restaurants. Decor is very nice giving a nice semi formal atmosphere. Food itself is very good as well, a refined version of the local fare in addition to some western options....Combine it with the visit to the batik museum which is well recommended too.More

Our small tour group had lunch at the Soga Restaurant and Lounge after visiting the adjacent Batik Museum. We were served a fixed lunch that was delicious, and beautifully presented: clear vegetable soup with sausage, a cone of yellow rice topped with a banana leaf...cap, six small cups of condiments (coconut, shredded eggs, peanuts, herbs, chili, and rice puffs). A small "rijstafel". For dessert a cassava cube with grated cheese and a strawberry. Wait staff cheerful. Ambiance relaxing.More

It does not matter how long goes by, the restaurant and the museum are part of the top highlights of Solo. Food it is great, colonial ambiet reminds in the building and solo batik it is great. A bit of more details services needed, but...it doesn’t matter it is a mandatory visit.More

The place are nice and it’s our 1st time to visit. We tried salmon and it wasn’t fresh. The foods are quite tasty but they can do better to cook fresh dishes

I would say, it is one of the good restaurant to taste Indonesian food. The restaurant building is one the cultural heritage in Solo. Also suitable for having lunch meeting.

Such a pity for one of Solo's beautiful historical landmarks. The majority of this Pakubuwono residence is left derelict with antique furnitures scattered on the corridors. The toilets are dirty and the service is slow, and this place supposed to be the fine dining spot...in Solo. There are plenty other restaurants located in antique houses in Solo that offer better services.More

I ate in Soga my first night in Surakarta, on the recommendation of the concierge at my hotel. The food was alright, but it wasn't great. I started with a couple of appetizers, the salmon-on-chip and the beef-on-chip. The salmon dish was odd--diced salmon and...onions on top of a soft lettuce leaf, which in turn was on top of a chip. When I bit into the chip, the leaf didn't tear because it was soft and pliable, so I wound up dragging much of the salmon mix off the chip unless I tore the leaf with my hands (or, by the third chip, just removed the lettuce myself prior to eating). Inconvenient. The beef on chip, which was pulled and served with a good sauce, was much better. Savoury, delicious, and the texture of the crispy chip worked with the soft beef. For my main course I had the short rib, which both my guidebook and the waitress recommended. The meat was tender and flavorful, although there was a coffee taste to it I wasn't a big fan of. The rice was sticky, complimented the meat, and worked well to soak up the sauce, A pretty good dish, though the coffee taste to the meat seemed out of place. For dessert I bought a couple bars of local chocolate at the front desk. It was fine. The chocolate had the flavors indicated on the label (e.g., the cashew chocolate tasted of cashews). All in all, it was a pretty good meal, but my bad experience on the salmon appetizer was a problem. I'd return here in the future, but I wouldn't get that particular dish.More

The place is absolutely lovely and worth visiting. However, is in hard need of maintenance. Chairs were stained and not that clean. The food is barely OK and staff, while friendly, not too efficient. We were a party of 6 and the place was empty....Nonetheless, not one person managed to get what was described in the menu with waiters initially explaining it wasn’t included and then rushing to make up when shown they weren’t right. Nobody seems to be acquainted with details and it was very pricey for local standards and offered quality. Timing also needs revisiting as service so slow. As usual no alcohol, and ginger tea not as good as in other places. Just go and visit, including the museum which is lovely and the store that offers great selection-exquisite silk batiks- but extremely expensive even for international levels.More

Food quality was good, although quite pricey if compare to other restaurant in Solo. Like their Tempe Mendoan & grilled chicken.

This restaurant offers good atmosphere and good food. The building itself is a heritage, a combination of Javanese and Dutch culture. So luxurious! Located in the heart of Solo City, in the same location of the famous Batik Museum of Danar Hadi. One thing ruining...the atmosphere is the presence of 3 LCD TVs inside the restaurant. I think they don't match at all with the concept of the restaurant. Overall, it is a good place to gather with family. Anyway, don't go here when there's a wedding party held at the building next to the restaurant. Crowded and not enjoyable.More

After a tour of the Danarhadi Batij Museum or any other time, this is an unhurried and uncrowded luncheon spot. Ice teas were good and quite chilled. Our three choices for lunch were good but my husband's three prawns looked drown by the plate. Someone...felt sorry for him and ordered him a soup. We were placed far enough away from the TVs not to be annoyed. This restaurant is part of a complex of buildings that used to house a prince--old world elegance!More

My sister & i had our lunch here after we toured the batik museum. The ambience is nice, old-style javanese dining room overlooking a lush garden. We both ordered Javanese food (sorry forgot the name), one of them got red rice on it and we...also ordered some traditional desserts. It was really good that we decided to come back the next day.More

Lovely & luxurious restaurant with an excellent ambiance and service. Located at the Danar Hadi museum and shop. Once you step in the restaurant you feel like going back in the colonial time. So a quick step in the Danar Hadi shop to fit yourself...a lovely outfit and have a nice meal at the Soga.More
