Had dinner here on a recent trip to Ubud. Make sure you ask to sit out the back in the garden. Enjoyed dinner and would go back.

Sampled the rijstafel for dinner, which included chicken and vegetable curries, fried mung beans, soya bean cakes, corn fritters, duck meat and various pickles and more, and was served with saffron rice. Washed it down with a few glasses of iced brem, the local rice wine. Seating was at a low table amid cushions and very comfortable. Service and atmosphere... More

It was not crowded in lunch time. Get a seat in the back of restaurant is more relax. Good atmosphere. Avocado lassie was a way to refresh your day.

Went here for lunch with friends who have been coming back for years - it lived up to all of their recommendations! Beautiful food - both presentation and flavor and the gardens are amazing. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere - stayed here for hours.

We had our anniversary dinner at Café Wayan. The ambiance of the restaurant is outstanding. From outside it looks like any other restaurant, but when you enter, they take you through forest like environment and it has many individual huts and we were given a table which was facing trees with no other patrons close to us. It was extremely... More

Café Wayan was okay for lunch but a total disappointment for dinner. The food tasted like it had been cooked six hours before and re-heated. The service was half-hearted, the ambiance just okay. I will not return and do not recommend it.

From the street, this restaurant doesn't look that impressive, but as when you enter you will find an almost never ending amount of tables dotted around a stunning tropical garden area. It's a special place to dine. When we arrived, Sumi did a grand job of showing us all of the tables on offer and explaining the menu options. Sunday... More

A stay in Ubud will not be complete without having a meal of the iconic Cafe Wayan. It's destination dining. The cakes are heavenly and don't miss the nasi campur. Lush gardens and impeccable service.

Atmosphere is amazing. Just like the photos. Breakfast is ok but don't go expecting fresh bread/ croissants for breakfast as their bakery does not have this ready until after 11am. Friendly staff and great location for monkey temple.

Description
Cafe Wayan and Bakery Established in 1986 We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 30 years. Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road. Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys. Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too. Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.
