Very good food and atmosphere. However they should work a bit on the service quality, the waiter was unable to tell us, even after asking 2 of his colleagues, which wine, out if their wine list, was a dry one. Finally, we decided ro stay on the safe side and we got beer.. :)

We visited cafe Wayan for dinner the first time, and we loved it so much we returned for lunch the next day. The atmosphere is quite romantic at night, with the low lighting and being partly in the open air. There is a large selection of food, at very good prices. What we loved most was the refreshing Ice LGH,... More

Based on the reviews , we expected genuine well cooked Indonesian food. Ordered the rijkstafel and were very disappointed and only ate 10% of it. This is lazy cooking for tourists at its finest. It looks ok but the taste just isn't there. Any Indonesian restaurant in Amsterdam would run rings around anything we've experienced in Bali where it seems... More

The food was pretty average. That maybe down to the choice we made. Gave a four as the restaurant itself was beautiful. Staff were friendly and the service was good.

This was our second visit, in 2 trips to Ubud, to this restaurant. It looks very plain from the street, but you need to walk in and get a table anywhere in the extensive garden which stretches back for around a hundred metres from the street. The menu is extensive, reasonably priced and very good. We were there on a... More

Came here for just dessert as it was right beside our hotel - and I had quite an average overall experience! Service was good however. Dessert was the banana crepe with chocolate, although they forgot the chocolate - so he had to take the dish back and add it, and then it was getting a little cold. However, they added... More

Incredible! Once in a lifetime opportunity to experience food at life changing level. The nasi campur is to die for. The staff was so helpful and the whole atmosphere represented the Balinese culture in whole better than anything on this planet. Cafe Wayan is a must in Bali.

Thank munsiff .

Cafe Wayan and Bakery

Established in 1986
We are happy to have had so many nice guests come to enjoy our food for over 28 years.

Cafe Wayan started as a small warung (a local food stall) where Ibu Wayan sold black rice pudding and coffee to the rice farmers on what has now become Monkey Forest Road.
Tourist began walking down "the path" to the Monkey Forest and stopped by for a coffee, snacks or to buy peanuts for the monkeys.
Ibu Wayans always love to cook as a child and soon the menu began to expand. Return friends to Ubud began helping with recipes of western dishes as long term visitors and residents sometimes miss their own food too.
Ibu Wayan began traveling abroad and learned more western cooking with Chef Joe Schultz of India Joes's restaurant in Santa Cruz, California and also learned the art of Thai cuisine in Bangkok.
