Excellent food with serene surrounding, beautiful 4 terrace restaurant, recommending sitting at the lowest level terrace.

Decent but not exiting food. Service a bit slow but okay. The location is wonderful, specially if you go to the lower floors.

Thank you for visiting. I agree that the best place to sit and enjoy everything is the lowest level, although it's all great. Best wishes, Murni. More

We ate at Murni's Warung a couple of times during a recent trip to Ubud. The food was delicious each time and the service flawless. The restaurant is several stories tall and much bigger than it looks from the road. The dining room at the bottom is closest to the small river that flows through this part of Ubud, but... More

We had intended to eat at Bridges restaurant on the advice of a friend but had not booked so we were turned away. The girl at Bridges suggested Murni's on the other side of the river. We had a look at the menu outside and it looked fairly unexciting but the building looked like old style Balinese so we thought... More

They know what they're doing at Murni's - no, really. And you should definitely get one of the seats near the edge overlooking the amazing gorge.

Seriously this place is ancient! A great throw back to when Bali just started to be commercial. The place is well maintained though and delivers good quality food, nice portions with quick and friendly service.

Thank you for writing. It's always great to hear from locals. We started the first international restaurant in 1974, so that's 42 years, and are still going strong. I'm very pleased that you liked the good quality food, nice portions with quick and friendly service. Looking forward to seeing you again. Salam, Murni More

We had both a lunch and a dinner here. Both times the staff was extremely friendly in a genuine way which was very nice. The lunch was delicious - just a light meal with mini spring rolls, yummy! At the dinner we sat on the lowest of the four levels, closest to the river which was just beautiful. My daughters... More

I'm delighted that you had both lunch and dinner at Murni's Warung and enjoyed the stunning location and friendly service - and especially by far the best desserts you had on Bali. Thank you also for visiting Tamarind Spa at Murni's Houses. Best wishes, Murni More

Description
Murni, the owner of the equally famous Murni's Houses and Tamarind Spa, opened Ubud's first real restaurant in 1974 and it remains first in the hearts of many people today.

The menu is varied and delicious and you can enjoy your drinks and meals and surf the Web using the free WiFi on one of four levels overlooking the river.

Level 1: When you enter Murni's Warung, the first thing you'll notice is the view of the greenery on the river's hillside. The steel cable in the foreground supports the bridge next door. On the way to your table, you'll walk past a display cabinet of cakes and pastries that you should take a look at -- just so you'll know how much room to save for dessert.

The restaurant is decorated with art from Murni's collection, including the small carvings high on the walls.

Level 2: The large statue of Ganesha, the Elephant God, that greets you in the Lounge Bar was commissioned in 1997 and completed in early 2002. He and Murni are about the same height. This is a great place to have cocktails or meet friends for a drink. You can also eat here.

Level 3: We generally reserve this level for parties, wedding receptions and birthday parties or when the Warung is overflowing. It can seat about 50-60 people.

Level 4: And finally you arrive just above the river. You'll enjoy the sound of flowing water with your candlelit dinner in the midst of exotic surroundings.

Murni's Warung Shop is a good place to wander in while you are waiting for your meal. And enjoy our books, Forty Delicious Years and Secrets of Bali.
