I had about 2hours for lunch and decided to try the restaurant. I ordered 3 type of dim sum (spring roll, chic feet and xiao long bao) and go ling gao for dessert. I mentioned that i will order some more items after the dim sum. All was nice but xiao long bao was a bit dry and didnt look apetizing. I was the only guest for more than half an hour but no one assist for tea pouring like it is normally done in a chinese restaurant. When i finished the dim sum i was not asked what the next order (As i mentioned earlier). In overall no enggagement with the staff (the 2 hosts were busy with 'something else' at the counter and i has to wave my hand whenever i need to ask something. There was a 30% discount on dim sum menu but still the price could have been better.

I was Enjoyed with a delicious dimsun. At an affordable price, impeccable service, beautiful Chinese decor and the best of all delicious food you could never go wrong with this place. The staff are very friendly, helpful and courteous - they explained to us the menu, which is truly unique, authentic and simple yet packed with meat, fish, dim sum, vegetables, noodles and soup. The service is very fast despite the packed restaurant.

With a Chinese girlfriend I can’t give them more then 3 stars.
Poor service as they bring me food without cutlery, I had two wait 2-3 min after the cutlery arrived.
Menu well done, full of intresting items.
I choose the all you can eat menu, and a big selection of dumpling, all really good.
Can’t say the same for the noodles, dry and too chewy.
The place per se really well designed.
It’s ok if you pass by to try, but low your expectations.

First of all, I’m Chinese myself and hence I would have a much higher standard when comes to Chinese food, and probably different perspective than those been here and made a review .
The ambience is nice with nice decor of authentic Chinese touches. The Jasmin tea is rather nice also with possibility for refill. The staff are also friendly but the food taste is okay overall but is rather disappointing being not authentic speaking from me being a Chinese myself. We ordered Kung Pao duck which does have flavours but however is not authentic Kung Pao . The honey pork tastes not bad but again not really authentic. The fried rice is rather tasteless and we had to add soy sauce by ourselves to make it tastier and the hainan rice has some fragrance but not yet strong enough to be called as hainan rice. The complimentary chilli sauce has potential but again not spicy enough for my taste. But of course, these are all spoken from my standard being Chinese myself and I am not sure if any adjustments have been made to tailor the dishes as per more general Balinese and westerns - as shown from many other positive reviews.
Despite these, regardless of the flavours, the portions I think is too small compared to the price we pay - not only compared to the others around the area but even e.g. the Chinese restaurants from Western Europe where I live.
So if you are Chinese or you want to have authentic Chinese food, I would recommend you give a 2nd thought before you go in

I was invited by some friends to checkout this spot I had never tried before and to my surprise, I was quite impressed with the whole experience.
Upon entering we were immediately greeted by a graceful staff and a luxurious Chinese inspired atmosphere.
We ordered right away.
I felt like we got a bit ambitious and carried away because the menu looked so appealing.
It didn't take long after ordering that the first few dishes started to arrive, served piping hot so we could enjoy the delicious flavors of each dish.
After the first bite, it was fast realized that we made the right decision to order so many dishes, it was clear that it was going to be easy to finish everything.
I couldn't stop eating!!
The flavors were authentic and mouth watering, even after a full stomach, I wanted more!
I'm glad the server advised us about their Saturday/Sunday all you can eat dimsum brunch, it sounds incredible!
I'll definitely bring some more friends to discover this place.
Overall, my experience at Golden Monkey was impeccable and I highly recommend it to anyone that's looking for an unforgettable Chinese culinary experience!

As a former HK resident now based in Bali, I can say that the food is pretty good, but you need to choose well. We do come back every few months for a Chinese food fix! This restaurant is pricey by local standards.
The traditional Dim Sum such as Hagau, Fenkow & crystal dumplings are very good. I also recommend trying the XiaoLongBao though they don't come with the traditional vinegar and ginger sauce.
We also really like the spinach with garlic and the fried flat noodles.
We arrived early at 6pm and there was only 2 people serving, so it took a while to get our orders in, but then other servers arrived, which helped. Once ordered, the food came pretty quickly.

Visited this place for dinner. Food was average. The kungpao chicken was too salty. The honey lemon chicken too sweet. The pork bun was not what you get in a Chinese restaurant. The dough was too dry. Not moist and fluffy.
The siew mai and hakkaw was the only food worth mentioning. Been here a couple of times but the quality has gone down recently. Prices are not cheap. Rp75,000 for a plate of egg fried rice is a rip off.
Not going there anytime soon.

If possible to give no star, we would. The worst experience in ubud and in Bali. The food was mediocre ( just not to say “bad”) and the prices are Very high for what you get. Not to mention the 10% service fees .. ridiculous… never again.

When we arrived we saw about 5 tables completely stacked with empty cups and plates. This should have been a sign to leave immediately but we stayed. Service was very poor as they were understaffed and the food was terrible. People were sitting on a table with dirty plates on it making a mountain as a joke with all of the cutlery as they waited over 15 mins for it to be cleaned up.

Fantastic fresh food and the chef went out of his way to make something suited for me that wasn’t on the menu. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The vibe is very chill and relaxed with great decor and relaxing music and the restaurant is in a fantastic location not far from the monkey Forrest.

We took all you can eat dim sum packages (it’s only offered on Sunday if we aren’t wrong). Everything we ordered was excellent in terms of taste and look. Service from the staffs were good but could’ve been better, apparently because of this pandemic. We tried also other dishes apart from dim sum and it were great also.
So far this is the best Chinese restaurant in Ubud.

Dim sum platter lacked flavours. Pork buns smelled fish and the filling was unidentified. Sticky rice has extremely little of the announced ingredients.
Overall very expensive and not to our taste.
Nice staff however a place to avoid!

We really had a nice dinner. The service is excellent. We ordered some dish but my most favorite are crispy pork belly and the duck. The place is cozy enough to having chit chat with family or hang out with friends. Price is effordable and reasonable for what you have. Couldn't ask for more.

Came for weekend all you can eat dimsum brunch. Very nice quality. Fresh prawns that do not induce allergy; thin but elastic hakaw skin; and the shiaumay was very rich. Had air-con but still albeit warm in the inside. Wonderful taste and quality.
