Muffins! Brownies! Brown bread... lovely! Not cheap, hidden on first floor of building behind 'open hand café' and artshop. I was there 4 times before I happened upon the bakery looking for the newspaper ;-)

Good place and nice owner, even if he want to meet friend on him, and he has certainly a commission. But the place was good and comfortable !

Only the fake brown bread is open; the real one (as stated in the lonely planet) is closed (due to back problems of the owner and rent issues, according to restaurant owner down the street).

Considering the amazing description seen on Lonely Planet we were expecting a fantastic place. Nevertheless, we found an average bakery which pastries were far worse compared to other places near to our accomodation and staff was completely rude. Even so, it has to be said that despite city was completely flood they offered us a tour by boat which nobody... More

Felt extremely let down by all the good reviews on Trip Advisor and it was recommended (perhaps in an older copy though) of Lonely Planet, other travel guides are available. The service was extremely poor whilst we there. We were one of 3 parties of people in the cafe upstairs and plates were coming out 1 by 1 with 20... More

The restaurant is located on the way to go Dasaswamedh Ghat. A lot of cookies, biscuits , pastries are in the menu. Taste was good. Nice roof top seating arrangements.

I do not usually leave negative comments but I'll begin with the Brown Bread Bakery. We got there following the very positive comments left by the reviewer of the world's most popular travel guide. The Brown Bread Bakery was the biggest letdown of that popular book. We put the book away after this experience. I now have the book on... More

Brown Bread Bakery and Organic Food P.Ltd is the very first organic bakery with restaurant in India with branches in Varanasi and Delhi. Since 2015 we started also a Vegan restaurant Varanasi. The company supports the projects of Learn for Life by using the profits for funding the school and to provide fair working conditions for all the staff. We use as many organic ingredients as possible for our products. All our bakery items are made from different kinds of organic grains which are always grinded freshly. The grains, the rice and the lentils are produced by certified small farmers which we visit and check regularly.
