Following advice from lonely planet we tried this restaurant. Nice view of the lake palace on a big roof terrace. Service was not tooo slow (it was low season so not busy) but waiters were not super friendly. We ordered chicken tikka (OK), mixed seasonal veggies (good) and the local dish of lamb which was a disapointment (chewy and lots... More

approach to this hotel is bad, as you have to go through heavy traffic and small lane, after fighting all this you reach there and find no lift to reach at top, ok view of this hotel win the heart, but then come the service and food, which was very much horrible, we had even order for jeera rice which... We stayed at this place as a couple some 20 years ago and it has clearly done very well for itself in the meantime. We only visited for dinner this time because of the wonderful evening views over the lake. Food was excellent but the evening was let down by poor service (slow and forgetful at times): we expected more... More

Nice view but very bad service. The food is average and definitely NOT worth the high prices. Against Lonely Planet, you should not visit this restaurant.

Well, the place itself is amazing. With the lake pichola at the backdrop and illuminating Taj Lake palace giving pleasure to your eyes combined with amazing food makes your dinner unforgettable. One of the best romantic date's I have.

Jagat Niwas is, no doubt about it, a lovely restaurant with a fantastic view. However it left me wanting more but might be exactly what others are looking for. As a foreigner in my sixth year of living in India I'm fairly used to being offered less spicy or less intense versions of food. This is usually a kindness on... More

This restaurant is affiliated with a hotel and is on the rooftop with varied levels of seating. The night views of the lake and palaces were beautiful. The service was good and the food also pretty tasty and fairly large portions. Would recommend sharing if doing Indian. Some at or table for the more western food which they said was... More
