Excited to see "Mexican" food featured at this stylish restaurant. Sadly, the meal and my cocktail did to meet my expectations. A beautifully designed place with a lovely patio & efficient service, I ordered two appetizers to get a feel for the overall quality and...a Classic Margarita. The menu does not really shout 'Mexican' so I ordered cautiously. The margarita arrived quickly - my suspicions confirmed. Tequilla, crushed ice, and a flavor that tasted something like 7-up or a splash lemon soda. Margarita has been my fave cocktail for 40 years and I had never seen one 100% clear. I couldn't stop staring at it - or trying to figure out the flavoring? The appetizers arrived, they were fine; a small tostada and fresh, grilled calamari with garlic. But I could not get past my odd tasting Margarita. This is truly one of the easiest cocktails in the world to mix. I mentioned all of this to my waiter. He quickly replied with a story about lime juice having no color... (blah, blah blah). I looked at my plate and picked up a lime that came with my calamari appetizer. I squeezed into my drink.and instantly, a classic margarita started to appear. The waiter walked away and said he would speak with the bartender. I didn't see him again. A beautiful setting, expensive, but priced fairly for this kind of place, and maybe next time I'll try a steak and a cold beer.More
Wonderful restaurant. Six of us turned up. I had the barracuda, it was great. The sauce was delicious. My friends had other things but we all enjoyed every piece. The waiter was great and very helpful with the wine. We are near to the end...of our fortnight in Gambia and this has been a great find. Thanks for a good eveningMore
My anniversary was totally spoiled. We arrived as a family and were the first through the door. We placed our order by which time there were just a few people. After a half an hour on seeing people being served I enquired about our own...food. The hapless women in charge told me that we did not order starters and that starters take priority. I told her that was totally unacceptable and demanded our food be given priority. Another 30 minutes (now an hour since our order was taken) and still no food. This time the woman was told that we would wait only 10 minutes more before leaving. Still no food so we left with the restaurant demanding immediate payment for drinks. No offer to give us a few free drinks. No sign of the manager. These people simply did not care. Their restaurant was by then full and they were raking in the money. I live in The Gambia and this storey will be told again and again.More
Hello Paul, Sorry to hear about your bad experience at El Sol, indeed on that day we had a little technical issue in the kitchen that caused us some little delays in our service. It’s a bit sad to see your side of the story...More
A really nice atmosphere, attentive waiters and an attentive floor manager, tasty meals with a good selection on the menu. Will definitely come back.
Excellent restaurant for couples, families alike, fantastic service n very friendly staff. Towels visited twice in the week we were there, love their steaks !!
First time here, not to be the last. Beef and Chili con Carne very good. Grtz from Belgian customers.
Went to El Sol last night based on previous reviews. Service was quite slow but it was busy when my beef burrito arrived I took one bite to find it was lukewarm. I called a waiter over not the one who had served me &...explained my food wasn’t hot - he said oh cold food I’ll get it warmed and then proceeded to touch the food!!! I said I didn’t want it warmed now & was upset he’d touched the food. I asked for a manager who refused to come out to me but sent a bill for the glass of wine I’d ordered. I did drink the wine paid the bill & left!! Won’t recommend to anyone.More

We ate there on a couple of occasions. Both times the food was excellent. It is at the higher end price wise but worth every penny or should I say Dalasi. The staff were excellent and on the ball.
Great place to eat. Food was very nice with good service. Vert good waiters. They offer a varied menu not just mexican.
Now moved to over the road but still great service and brilliant food Can't go wrong in here Best chilli con carne I've ever had
The restaurant has moved again, however, not far from the previous venue. We visited 4 times during our 2 week visit. The menu is not huge however, the food is fantastic as always. The staff are a credit to this resturant. We are looking forward...to visiting again in February.More

Not a huge menu but an interesting one with Mexican tapas and and international selection. The service here was very good and supervised by the lady owner, very observant. The food was great and presentation excellent, highly recommended.
This place has moved again. The new restaurant is very well decorated. Staff are super helpful. If I had a complaint was that the portions are so big. Loverly flavours
