We've patronized this eatery for many years and have watched the prices inflate, gradually at first, but with the most recent escalation Via Mare now qualifies as "way overpriced." A plate of pasta with one meatball and a limpy, overdressed side salad is $20. With tax and tip that's over $25--for a plate of pasta! Via Mare used to be... More

Very good, traditional Italian food. Good service. Restaurant is small, and tables are close together. Make a reservation. They make delicious pizza, but the pizza is take out only. Owners and staff are very nice!

This restaurant is overcrowded and frankly nothing special. While the pasta was tasty, none of it was freshly made. Servers were loud and abrasive, the restaurant was almost too loud to speak and let's not talk about the prices..... For plain ricotta ravioli, seafood pasta in red sauce and 1 tiramisu our bill was over $70! That doesn't even include... More

Our favorite Italian restaurant in Avalon! Although the menu never seems to change it is always a consistently fabulous meal! Especially recommend the Veal Marsala! It is absolutely divine! Family run and always a treat!

My family and I have been coming down to the shore for 15 years and always makes sure to eat at via mare. Julia and Vito the owners right from Italy who speak broken English and visit Italy almost once a year, always make sure we feel right at home. The food is delicious you cant go wrong with the... This ain't your nouveau yuppie Northern Italian joint with foamed catsup. it is basic 2nd or third generation Italo-American red sauce/gravy. They might even use a little garlic, but you can't be sure. Don't set your sights too high and you won't be disappointed. My wife "loved" her ravioli last time. Middle range shore prices but without liquor "il conto"... More

Good quality Italian food. A great place to go for a good meal while on vacation in Avalon. The prices will not blow your vacation budget either.

Good family type classic Italian place. BYOB. Casual. Parking is the only issue in season. Local place that we take for granted.
