We Stopped here for a bite on our first day in San Cristobal. I am a vegetarian and when I wasn't sure of already provided a few vegetarian options on the menu, they offered to make my vegetable fried rice with a side of eggs. I was very pleased. The dish was great, huge portion size and very tasty. My husband ordered grilled fish and that too was quite decent. The service was great, friendly people.

So many great things to say! When you sit down they promptly get you a bowl of popcorn with a hot sauce for dipping (great if you come famished!). It's like a museum and there is more than enough to study and view! The food was delicious. We went twice that week (the only restaurant we wanted to go back to) and I had the garlic shrimp both times - with a salad and fab plantains. Support the local economy - enjoy a meal here!

This restaurant serves delicious main dishes on cast iron skillets. My grilled fish was twice the size of any other fish dish I've been served during three weeks in Ecuador (including one week so far in The Galapagos Islands) and it's flavor was the best. My wife had the best rice dish she's tasted in years. It was so large that we shared the leftovers for lunch the next day. The margaritas tied for the best we've had in Puerto Ayora and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.

funky, atmospheric, nautical themed spot featuring local seafood. All sorts of paraphernalia from boats, whale bones, and stuff related to the sea all over the walls. Not busy on our arrival and the server could not have been sweeter. A plethora of seafood options, including a frig with recently caught fish and lobsters looking incredible. As we perused the menu, we were served an interesting amuse bouche-a bowl of stale popcorn accompanied by a ramekin of spicy salsa and a small spoon. Unclear on how we were expected to combine the two. Not a good combo IMO. I love a good ceviche and the version here was very good. Whitefish, onion, small chunks of peppers, delicious large shrimp, all melded with fresh lime juice. A bit wetter than many I have experienced but very flavorful. Uniquely served with white rice instead of tortilla chips (my preference). It was served in a beautiful blue starfish shaped dish. If you like ceviche, order one of their preparations here. My DW ordered the garlic shrimp la plancha (cooked on a flat top griddle). Her go to seafood order most places. I chose a fresh Brujo (Scorpion fish) out of the frig. Different preparations were available-I chose fried after seeing it on someone else’s plate. It turned out the portion was actually half a fish. Unexpected but probably for the better. Fish was served with fries and a green salad. All the veggies in the salad were delicious. The fish came out looking good but was ultimately a disappointment. After coming out of the fryer much of the meat was dry and difficult to remove from the bones. I felt like a bird picking thru a carcass. I should have chosen a grilled or sautéed preparation in hindsight. The shrimp entrée came to the table in a unique vessel-a heavy cast iron container shaped like an old fashioned clothes iron. Really different. The shrimp were served with bit of onion and tasted great. Topped off the meal with a wonderful passionfruit smoothie. So refreshing. Despite my meal preparation disappointment, I recommend visiting here to dine.

Visiting El Descanso Marinero was quite the experience. The nautical theme caught my eye, but the lack of cleanliness was immediately apparent. The condiments seemed neglected, and even the complimentary popcorn dish wasn't spared from debris. Despite the hunger that gnawed at me, the food didn't live up to the prices, and in hindsight, leaving might have been the wiser choice. It's a lesson learned; there are better places to satisfy an appetite.

We enjoyed the actual restaurant. There are a lot of bizarre and interesting items to see while you dine. We thought the food, however, was just average. Large portions, but one of the higher priced meals we had while in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. $16 for a chicken breast & fries, $17 for shrimp and rice. Also, they charged me $1 for the take away box-I've never had that happen before. All in all, there are much better meals elsewhere.

We had lunch at this quaint restaurant; lovely environment, great food, and a very pleasant and helpful owner. We ordered 3 meals for 4 people and were very satisfied. The fish and shrimp plates were extremely good, and the chicken one was also nice. The staff went out of their way to make us happy.

Restaurant that serves good local cuisine, hearty and reasonably priced. Lots of fish and seafood. I recommend the shrimp ceviche, TOP! (although avoid if you don't like coriander) Fast and friendly service, the decor is rather kitsch but it's fun :)

Set back off the Main Street this restaurant is superb value for money. The lobster was absolutely delicious, and far cheaper than the ocean front. Cocktails lovely and popcorn was served alongside. Definitely worth a visit.

We passed this restaurant on the way to our hotel and it looked super fun and like it had a great vibe. It also got pretty good reviews so we gave it a shot. We must have been too early at 7:00 p.m. - we were the first ones there, and only one other table arrived during our meal.. so no energy at all. My daughter and I had the shrimp and rice, which was a good dish, but my husband's grilled tuna was overdone and flavorless. I'm sure it's great with locals who know what to order, but we were disappointed.

We ordered two versions of the same fish. They both looked fried. Not bad and not great though the salad on each plate was nice

Plates very abundant and exquisite flavour. Very tasty fried shrimps. We didn't had much hunger, hence we splitted one plate in two and was more than enough. Owner very caring and funny.

Guess we expected much better for the price. It's an interesting place, but the food was just average.

The title says it all really! We walked past and the decor drew us in but the food wasn't excellent by any stretch of the imagination.

Fancy food this isn't, but it's a popular place serving big helpings of the whole range of Ecuadorian food - seafood, meat and vegetarian. Service is quick and efficient, the decor (across two packed floors with a view from above into the courtyard below) is quirky, brash, and flings together objets from every possible area, era and culture and provides conversational material for ages, and the food is fresh, plentiful and pretty good value. Subtlety isn't the name of the game, but you won't leave hungry and for sure you won't be eating there alone!
