Came with the parents and had the half portion of all 3 soups. My fav was the cazuela de frijoles. The ajiaco was ok but I've had better in Bogota. The mondongo was ok but not a fan of tripe...Good service...but if you take the lemonade they offer you, it's extra.

This place was recommended to me & my boyfriend by a local. There are 3 items on the menu & so far we have only tried the ajiacos. Their ajiacos is like a Colombian version of chicken soup, and it is delicious & comforting; as if someone's grandma cooked it for us. The restaurant has a local, unpretentious feel about it which I really enjoyed. The service is friendly & the food comes out quickly. We plan to go back to try the other items on the menu soon!

I ate here on my yearly trip to Medellin and had a fantastic meal... Once again. What I love about this place is the consistency of its great food. No wonder why famous people come and eat here all the time. This time I had the Ajiaco and it was as delicious as always. TIP: order extra chicharron, the way they cook it here makes it addictive!

This food is really amazing. You need to try the "cazuela de frÃjoles" a full plate of beans with pork skin, just heaven. But beware that it doesn't look big but its a lot!

The service is great, the place is clean, the food is amazing. The menu is simple but whatever you choose, you will not be let down. If you go to Medellin, this is a must go-to lunch place. My absolute favorite restaurant in Medellin.

Best Ajiaco (soup) I have ever tasted. Must eat here. I went for lunch and will definitely be back. Only 3 items on the menu. No frills, No thrills, but food it absolutely delicious. My dad had the Mondongo (tripe) and he loved it. You have to eat here if you visit Medellin.

Este lugar es lo que yo llamarÃa un hueco en la pared, de entrada es una casita antigua habilitada para el disfrute de la más deliciosa comida colombiana. Comida exquisita y una atención muy personal! This place is what I will call a hole in the wall, it looks like an old house that has been arranged to serve the most delicious Colombian food. Not only is the food exquisite, but the service is very personal.
Mi favorita como no, la cazuela de frijoles, que tiene de todo, pero en justa medida. El ajiaco es excelente también. Cada plato es servido con orgullo y detalle, un deleite al paladar y a los ojos. My favorite meal is la cazuela de frijoles, a "bean soup" with a bunch of different toppings yet each on the perfect measure. The ajiaco is also excellent. Each plate is served with pride and detail, a delight for the taste and the eyes.

This was the best lunch I had in Medellin. If you are looking for a traditional place with local flavors, this is your place. It has been visited by many celebrities and artists, and you can find their signatures and photographs in the walls. Excellent services and very good prices

We ordered the cazuela de frÃjoles, which was very good. It is the typical paisa food, but with a twist, which I, being Colombian and having had it many times, found very interesting and savory. The service of the place is very good: the waitresses are nice, fast, and are always there to help. I didn't try the other things, but I deffinitely recommend the frÃjoles. That being said, I must admit that for the type of food, the place was over-priced and I think that is because of its fame and name. However, I don't regret it. I would also say that the half portion is perfect and leaves you full.
Finally, it is important totake into account that the place only opens for lunch, until 3 pm.

The food was really great but quite expensive just for one bowl of food. It was good but not the best for the price

Ridiculously expensive for average tasting ajiaco in Colombia. The menu makes it seem like the restaurant has a long history & "professionalism" in making ajiaco and mondongo, but it's really not. The best places to try these are in random places on the hill where they still cook with wood burning stoves.
I spoke to some locals about this place and they hate it. They also said it's not possible to find a real good place for ajiaco in El Poblado. So if you want to try real food, get out of the Poblado area.

You get lots of food and you won't go hungry as the food is also delicious. Half a portion of Cazuela de frÃjoles is more than enough for one person. Also free refill on the home made lemonade.

I'm on 8th street often, and occasionally I have a change to eat at this quaint little cafe. The soups are great, but a little on the expensive side. Apparently, some real VIP's eat at this place on occasion, as there are military police standing guard from time to time.

To start, I am not a huge fan of Colombian food. I do like it but it seems to me that there is much, much less variety than we experience with other cuisines. I can't say that as a true expert on Colombia food but I have stayed here for two months and I've eaten in a lot of places. All that being said, I recommend Aliacos y Mondongos in Medellin (El Poblado) very highly as a top tier suggestion for authentic Colombian food with very fresh ingredients. I'm not alone. Even though this is a small place and rather hidden away, the walls are covered with the comments and signatures of famous previous guests. I was particularly impressed by the wall next to my seat (seat=stool here by the way) which I think is the only one that is painted anything other than white. The painting on the wall frames a single signature: that of Fernando Botero. I admit I was impressed by that. You will have no problem making a choice of meal. They only serve three things, two of them in the restaurant name: ajiacos, mondongos and cazuela (frijoles). These all look rather like stews but are more appropriately, or generically, called "sopa" or soup. Mondongos is the Colombian classic that I have been promising myself to try but I haven't yet gotten around to ordering tripe, which is its principle ingredient. My wife had the ajiacos, which she loved. It's a chicken soup served with some extras on the side to put in as you wish. I had the cazuela, a soup which in this restaurant is made with frijoles and chicharrón or fried pork belly. Topped with what are essentially fried shoestring potatoes. I loved it. And since they make only three things you get your meal pretty much immediately after ordering. This food is great with beer. Important note: Check the hours because this place is only open for lunch. But there's a benefit in that: This food is so good that you'll want to eat all of the generous serving -- and you're not going to be hungry for dinner. There were three of us. A serving of one of the three offerings for each of us plus three beers costs about 90,000 Colombian pesos or about $30 US, including propina/tip, which is usually added automatically to a meal bill here.
