This restaurant is a must when visiting Cartegena. Located in a charming historic building with an intimate feel, the staff will make you feel like family. The ceviche and tuna carpaccio appetizers were outstanding. My husband and I both had fresh catch which was sea...bass each with a different delicious sauce paired with a very reasonable but excellent bottle of wine. Very gourmet meal but reasonable prices by US standards!More

The restaurant was booked by our guide so I thought it would be touristy. It was full on a Wednesday night but with a real mix of locals and tourists. With its dress code everyone looked smart which worked well with the sophisticated environment. The...restaurant only opened at 7pm and there were a few people waiting outside. All seemed to have reservations. We were quickly seated and the service was great for our whole meal. It's a large menu with a good variety of seafood. We did not have the lobster but the people on the next table did and it tooled lovely. They definitely enjoyed it. We has a tuna carpaccio and octopus carpaccio to start with. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. For mains my husband had a white fish in onions and herbs served with fresh vegetables. I had a hot entree of empanadas with prawns and ginger. Again well presented and tasty. We had cocktails and beer with the food. Overall a very elegant setting with very beautifully prepared food. A nice place for a good meal.More

As ever we shared some starters - a ceviche and a tataki which were good. We then all had seafood - shrimps one coconut, seafood stew and sea-bass. All were good. We shared a couple of desserts too. Wine on the expensive side but the...cocktails were delicious and see oe old school Impeccable. After two weeks in Colombia eating heavy food it was a welcome change.More

Myself and five others dined at La Vitrola our first night in Cartagena based off of glowing recommendations we had received. We now realize that the people in our circle who had made these recommendations either a) couldn't see a tourist trap from 20 yards...away or b) must have terrible taste in food. With the acceptation of the pulpo appetizer, all entrees were bland, over cooked and extremely overrated. No food appeared to be fresh at all. The vegetables were previously frozen, the fish was rubber, the arroz de coco was hard and overcooked. Unfortunately we found this spot to be very disappointing- a promisng location and interior, good music and service, but the food, while reading appealing and authentic on the menu, was a terrible display of a restaurant cutting corners and relinquishing any pride in their product.More

This restaurant was recommended to us by a few people. They have since lost ALL credibility. I came here with 5 friends for dinner on our first night in Cartagena. The restaurant is charming and the service was decent, however the food was NASTY. Ever...eating microwaveable Birds Eye vegetables that come in a bag? Well they have them here. The fish was chewy and overcooked. None of the staff could tell us what type of fish it was, just that it was the "fresh catch." DON'T DO IT. Every other mean we ate in Cartagena was delicious..... Moshi, Maria, Lobo Del Mar & Cande Save yourself the disappointment.More

We had lovely sea bass here with the typical coconut rice, plantain and salad - the service and wine list was impeccable! You need reservations to get in here!

we had a great evening at La Vitrola. The ambience is excellent - live music which is very good and our table was in the next room which made it ideal as we weren't all consumed by the music and wanted to talk with friends....The menu is good and diverse but they say they specialise in shellfish and fish. I had octopus to start and white fish with coconut risotto as main - the risotto was delicious and the fish very good (but as always in colombia too generous a portion for me) the staff were delightful - both of them - and spoke enough english. Wine was also good and the best list we have seen yet in cartagena.More

Where Italy meets Colombia, we had a romantic lunch at La Vitrola. Excellent cheese flatbread. Very attentive servers and accommodating kitchen. Sangria chockablock filled with fresh fruit.

La Vitrola came highly recommended but I thought it was just okay. A few items of note...men have to wear long pants but woman do not. Our guest had to go back to the hotel to change. The food is fair and not as creative...as I would have hoped. It is a classic restaurant. There is live music which to me was the highlight. Maybe go for drinks and dessert just to hear the music.More
