The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere and decor. My choice of dishes including Tuna Tatar were very good. They also have a good choice of wine. The service was ok. I felt a bit rushes when I arrived but after I explained I wasn’t...in a hurry the waiter served me at a leisurely pace. Overall a lovely restaurant for dinner.More

This place was absolutely perfect. I was tired from traveling and went for an early dinner. It was quiet but livened up as I was wrapping up my early dinner. I sat at the bar and the attendants were fabulous. I discovered a new love...for G&Ts because they made them look so beautiful (and boy were they tasty!). I went with the arroz cremoso de mariscos which is similar to their stew but with this fantastic creamy rice base. It was so delicious. I’m a big dessert gal so couldn’t leave without trying something. If I had someone to share with I would’ve tried the Snooky de Coco but I went with the Colombia and was not disappointed. It’s like the perfect mix of a dense chocolate cake with a decadent fudge filling, a small scoop of vanilla ice cream to balance it all out and then if you wanted to infuse the cake with their traditional alcohol you could (the heart is the injector—pics). I was so happy I chose to come here. Fantastic service. Great food. And I can’t wait to try and replicate this G&T when I get home!More

We went to Alma based on positive reviews, but we left completely disappointed by both the food and service. While the atmosphere is nice, Alma didn’t live up to expectations. Both the food and cocktails were nothing special, and honestly, all dishes we ordered were...disappointing. Given the price, we expected higher quality in terms of taste and presentation. Our server also seemed very rushed and lacked hospitality. Lastly, one of our dresses was ruined by gum stuck under the table that attached to the dress. While this is not Alma’s fault, the staff only offered to put ice on the gum - and they offered no other measures to rectify this situation. We left with a bad meal and ruined clothing. There are better places to eat in Cartagena. I’d avoid Alma and seek out those other restaurants.More

I had high hopes for this restaurant and in fact we walked a mile and a half to get there. This restaurant was recommend to my husband and me by our concierge at the Hyatt. I have a allergy to garlic and I let the...server know in Spanish regarding my allergy and my goodness, what drama ensued. I am a global traveler and most every restaurant around the world easily accommodates my situation as it’s medical and if I eat garlic it’s very serious. You would have thought I asked them to behead puppies or something heinous. After several trips to the back of the house, the server returned and asked me if I wanted a salad. Really? No. Gross. Why would I want a salad in Cartagena. That was the chef’s only option for me. Needless to say it was a horrible salad. After 30 minutes time, the sever came back with a pile of shredded lettuce and some tomatoes. I could have made that myself. I would not recommend this restaurant. 👎🏻More

Alma was the best food we had in Cartagena. Granted, I was apparently ordering like a gringo at La Vitrola, but the ceviche baru and chicharron (pork belly) blew our taste buds. The ceviche could be bottled, it’s that good. Incredibly refreshing drinks as well....Our waiter Bernardo made the night very special. He spoke perfect English with a deep radio voice, which put us at ease. He gave us our time and space while also checking in and chatting with us. He also helped us not to order more than we were ready to eat. We ate the palenquera de San Agustin for desert. It was fun to break the sugar top and reveal the guava ice cream inside. Nothing like we had before. I imagine all the waiters had such class because the restaurant is in a very expensive, beautiful hotel. They have unique chandeliers with azul beads. White walls in our dining room. Another had decorations. And the bar was cool. We took a walk outside to see the clear blue pool lit up at night and loved the mix of modern and traditional architecture of the ivy-covered buildings. After a long boat ride to Isla Baru, this was the perfect way to end our evening.More

I came with my partner and parents to celebrate my birthday at Alma in Cartagena. I was hoping for a place with a very nice, elegant, yet relaxed ambiance with amazing food and this place met all my expectations. The restaurant itself is beautiful, full...of decorations that maintain some of the traditional Colombian elements, making it feel authentic and honoring the heritage of such a rich place. The service was top notch: there is nothing like the attentiveness and warmth of Colombian people. I’ve traveled to many places in the world and have never seen anything that is as special. The food was to die for: from the small plate of fish croquetas that was given to us to start off as courtesy of the chef, to the bread basket, to all our main dishes, even to the desserts, everything was tasted delicious and was intentional, well balanced, and true to Caribbean cuisine. I tried the Pesca del día al Cabrito which was a delicious, fresh fish, cooked inside a plantain leaf and with a delicious sauce made with onions and tomatoes. It came with a side of patacones (fried plantains) as well as coconut rice that was to die for. Portion sizes were generous! My partner ordered the Sancocho de Pescado and he also loved how delicious it was and how home-made and authentic it tasted. The desserts were also amazing! We got the Colombia which was a moist chocolate cake, perfectly balanced with aromatic hints of coffee as well as tangy uchuva. I got a small dessert as well for free for my birthday courtesy of the chef which I also really enjoyed! I could not recommend this place enough especially if you come for abroad. I was born and raised in Colombia so this was a very special place to spend my birthday. Prices are steep, especially for those paying in Colombian pesos so be aware of that. Very happy with the beautiful ambiance, amazing food, and unparalleled service!More

So we decided to try the restaurant as we had spa treatments booked within the hotel. Something light! The service we received from the moment we walked in was great and made us feel at home. Special shout out to Bryan who was lovely, polite...and attentive, as our server for the afternoon. Because of this service we received, we booked a table for dinner as well. Bryan accommodated our request to be seated at the same table and his hospitality and that of his colleagues continued. The food for both meals was presented amazingly and tasted great too! Thanks all for happy tummies and beautiful memories 😊More
