La Cocina was hands down the best restaurant we ate at during our week in Cartagena (it blew the nearby highly-rated Rum Box restaurant out of the water). We had the bandeja de entradas which was an assortment of five tasting dishes that came with...plantain balls and a light bread on the side. The dishes included different types of cerviche, stuffed peppers, cured eggplant and dips. We loved this selection so much we came back twice. The owner-waiter was very courteous, efficient and knowledgeable. This is the sort of place that foodies will swoon over. Besides, when you see that Gabriel Garcia-Marquez was a frequent patron, you know they must be doing something right.More

Visited here as it was recommended and very close to our hotel in Getsemani. We were very pleased with the food, service, and value at Cocina de Pepina. My partner and I ate there twice while in Cartagena which is unusual for us. CdP serves...authentic Caribbean food at reasonable prices. We had the Mote and the Caribe soups which were both excellent, but everything we tried on the menu was delicious. I definitely recommend eating here if you are visiting Cartagena.More

The food was absolutely delicious and the portions generous. Try the sopa caribe and the passion fruit juice - they're both great. It's a very popular spot but they don't take reservations. It's a small space so go during an off-peak time if you can....We liked it so much, we went twice.More

Visited here on a written recommendation and hoped it would be good. It definitely was - I loved my Sopa Caribe (coconut milk-based soup with prawns, fish and tomatoes. Coconut rice and salad on the side made it extra special. Staff were very friendly. Reasonably...priced for food quality and location. $123000 pesos - 2 glasses of wine, two main meals incl. tip.More

The food tried to be fancy but wasn’t anything special. The staff did what it’s supposed to do - but not a bit more. Basically, everything was average - except the price level. Not a good deal.

Caribbean adventurous food that will NOT break the bank! My second visit, that only assure me that it would be a third! The “Sopa Caribe” is a delicacy difficult to top. The balance between coconut flavour, fish and sea food is delicate and precise. So...balanced and easy to your palate, that it is like some kind of strange culinary voodoo. Special mention to the “camarones en salsa con aguacate” and then amazing dessert choicesMore

We stopped at this restaurant on a tour with Mr. Emerald. We were very pleased to have such an authentic Colombian experience. The menu is in Spanish and English and the server explained further. Four of us enjoyed chicken stew (gallina) and a pork rib...appetizer. The rice dish with plaintains that accompanied the stew was very tasty, apparently made with coconut milk. Located near The Walled City, it is a perfect place for lunch--at a very reasonable cost!More

Great food. Get there when they open or wait. Appreciated the local food that wasn’t like every other place. Had a picky eater with us and didn’t work for him at all and a bit hard for no dairy or meat. But we loved it...due to the festive and local feel of love.More

I was recommended this place by three separate friends. The food is very local cuisine. It is very very tasty. The place is rather small and doesn’t take reservations so I would suggest aiming to go there as soon as it opens if you can...to avoid a wait.More
