It is a nostalgic trip into the glorious Barranquilla past. The food is good, and on Friday and Saturday night there is a good music band playing the son and bolero classics. A very nice change from the sometimes over-loud bars and music places. A very nice and natural atmosphere.

Place is so quirky and different, I loved it. Live music, family atmosphere and nice food with good service. I would recommend going when there is live music as it enhances everything. Bar is pretty happening spot to hang with the locals who are worth meeting.

Nice dinner, good music, great service. Only thing about the restaurant is that it is a bit far away of nowadays Barranquilla, but it it THE ORIGINAL location where García Márquez met his friends.

Wednesday jazz nights & weekend live music liven up this fun, historic, literary & friendly watering hole that boasts a fully appetizing menu. The elephant foot prints lead the way into what used to be the 'in' place for local hunters & the literary likes of the yet unknown Gabo & Alfonso Fuenmayor, whose life size cutouts greet visitors and... Wow, what a great location. The watering hole of thinkers, authors, artists and still going strong. In Paris there is Les Deux Magots, in Barranquilla there is la Cueva. There are outstanding drinks and healthy appetizers. There is live music. Very worthwhile is the brief video that provides insight about the history of the establishment. Great place to see and... Delicious food, interesting life bands and art exhibit. The owner´s (Heriberto fiorillo and his wife Claudia) are warm interesting hosts. The place is also an attraction for locals. The place was originally a corner "tienda" and getogether for Garcia Marquez, Obregon and other nowadays celebrities.

Great food & live music. A lot of history at this place - we arrived and they showed us a short film about the restaurant, then sat us by the live music. Food was authentic and delicious. Definitely recommend.

the food is very good, the staff is amazing, and the scene is outstanding. Being in the place were some of the most notorious writers and musicians of Colombia used to meet, is something you must experience. Deserves a visit! i was there because of a weeding ceremony, but it couldn't be in a nicer place than there. 5 stars!

The atmosphere is amazing. The menu was very wide and had all kind of typical food. The service was excellent. A place to recommend.

If you have read One Hundred Years of Solitude or even if you have heard or realismo magico, visiting La Cueva is a must. I am from Barranquilla but immigrated in the 80's to the US. I knew about La Cueva as someone who have read the story of Garcia Marquez but never have been there until now. For me,... More
