A good but limited selection of craft brews compared to other craft brew bars in Chengdu, terrible food, and could not play pool because there was an event upstairs. Tried the 5 beer flight, all 5 of the available Chengdu brews. The IPA, wheat, Pils,...and Stout are all good. The grapefruit wheat was interesting for a fruity beer, but not my thing. Tried some food - Thai beef curry (not at all like anything I ever ate in Thailand - not good!), fries (generally standard fries), and the ribs... ah, the ribs! The most horrible excuse for food, let alone ribs, that I have ever tasted on the planet. The chef is very proud of his ribs and refused to take them off the bill, because; “A lot of people come here just to eat [his] ribs!” They are absolute garbage! Wanted to play pool, but because an event upstairs, we could not play pool. Minor point, but, well, that was the end of that...More

I sit currently at the bar noticeably looking around for some service. There are three bartenders in sight. One less than 3 feet away, he looks up, we lock eyes, he walks by to get a water for himself. I’m on the eighth minute of...looking around. One bartender is leaning on a cabinet approximately 15 feet away, the other is in and out of the back but currently out front. No one has noticed that I am writing this bad review in plain view on my lap top. Again I have left this up unaltered for 8 minutes. I met whom I presume is the owner upon my arrival. Nice guy and very attentive. Since then the only bartender that has even vaguely noticed me is what seems to be the only one that speaks Chinese. (I only identify this so he can get a bit of credit later). Gin and Tonic is fine. Fine enough for 30 rmb. Craft beer is okay. Someone has finally taken my food order. I will wait. See how it goes. Burger-bland and uninspired.More

I was surprised how well the food tasted! I had the burritos and fries. My wife had the Cesar salad.

I was in Chengdu for a few days and after reading the trip adviser reviews on a few places, I settled on going the this Pub. Had a great time, the staff was very friendly and I tried the Chengdu Pilsner and the Belgium lager,...both were on draft, excellent beers. I played in the Friday night pool tourney and met people from the Phillipines, china, London, Paris, Scotland, India and the USA, we all had a blast. Very diverse crowd. I highly recommend this place for good beers and a great atmosphere. I never tried the food as I'd already ate before getting there. It's a good X-Pat joint with good beer and a great staff and you'll meet folks from all over the world.More

Wide selection of beers and other beverages here. The food is not great – – typical pub grub. Dieter is an excellent host. Fun with a group.

I took my friend here for Monday lunch and we were very satisfied! We had the Monday deal of ribs and a side of large pizza!! It was really good! Also happy hour on the beers!! The ribs were cooked to perfection- just falling off...the bone! The lunch doesn't have much of an atmosphere if that's what you are looking for.More

Two of the best craft beers I have ever tasted, closely followed by two of the worst dishes I have ever been served. The good: The craft beers. Chengdu wheat grapefruit beer. Delicious session beer, a must try in the heat of the day. Citrusy...zest with a gorgeous colour pure white head and all the characteristics of a session beer that other craft beers will never obtain. Chengdu Stout. Espresso bitter dark chocolate on the nose and in the mouth. Two characteristics that slap you in the face and are so enjoyable. A level that most craft brewers aspire to. The bad The food. The nachos were devoid of well, anything really. The cheese was like whey or Greek yoghurt, with a miserly sprinkling of unseasoned ground beef. To be avoided. The burger, upgraded with cheese egg and bacon. Can't go wrong! That same hideous cheese substitute destroyed an otherwise ok burger served on a supermarket bun. It resembled boarding school oatmeal and was equally appealing to taste. The ugly. That curdled substitute cheese slop. Get a bowl of fries and enjoy some exceptional beers on Monday afternoon before dinner because everything else is closed.More

After 3 months of traveling around China, the best beer we had was at the Beer Nest in Chengdu. Their IPA rivaled some American brews. The location is nearby some other popular expat spots (The Lazy Pug, etc.) and the ambiance is an authentic American/European...pub feel. Beer is a bit pricey (40rmb for a pint of IPA) but they have happy hour specials (25% off) and, considering that you'll pay 25rmb for a Tsingtao at some bars, it's pretty reasonable for a craft beer.More
