As others have said, this restaurant is a little hard to find -- because it is hiding behind a courtyard with a brightly lit Chinese sign and no mention of a restaurant. Fortunately, an employee seemed to be stationed in the courtyard to help direct us to the small entrance. Inside it was busy, no English, but pictures on the... More

As other reviewers wrote, this restaurant is really recommend, since the taste is good and the price is as well okay, even during Chinese new year. Take a visit and enjoy your meal! Price for 4 meals - 3 people - around 190 rmb.

Literally 3 minutes walk from Master Administrator's Garden down a small alley. Came here around 1pm and had no trouble getting a table. Place was crowded but not full.

Everything we ordered was delicious, and served in large portions (I would not follow the usual rule of one dish per person plus one in this restaurant). I particularly enjoyed the oil noodles, and the hot and sour soup was delicate and flavourful. Service was attentive and quick, prices very modest. Location is perfect for the museums and shopping.

This restaurant appeared to us a good place after a long day walking along the old part of Suzhou. It's not so easy to find it, as it is located in the centre of old town of Suzhou. The best way to find it is to use one of electronic maps. When you enter 吴门人家, you feel like you are... More

I read about this restaurant through Trip Advisor earlier and our local Chinese friend also agreed that this is a good restaurant. Environment of the restaurant is cozy. We had a small private dining room that fits 10 nicely. The menu has a vast variety of cold starter and hot dishes. The famour Suzhou cuisine is of course the sweet... More

This place is a bit hard to find but luckily we had a guide. There were no other foreigners there and I'm not sure anyone could speak English, but there is a picture menu. The food was the best I had in my trip to China (and we visited some posh restaurants in Shanghai). Not spicy or sweet, very subtle... More

The squirrel fish was the highlight of our meal here. Don't worry, no squirrels were harmed in the preparation of this dish. The price for squirrel fish in most restaurants seems high compared to other fish dishes, but the result is highly labour intensive. The chef parbroils the fish, before deboning the body section without filleting, to retain the basic... More

The food is authentic suzhou food but we found it quite oily. The setting is ancient style which was nice. Waitresses were attentive. Overall, found it quite over-rated.

Had a bit of trouble finding the Resturant as it is in a alley off the main drag, and there is no signage. We actually thought we were in the wrong the place. -BTW the alley is directly opposite the empty lot, with a white wall so sorrounding it, used as a parking lot by buses and drivers But once...
