I have had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Mark Honey, owner of William Shakespeare's Pub and Restaurant. Mark is a chap from the U. K. married to a lovely Beihai beauty and they operate a successful but friendly place to "hang out" as we say in the USA. The fare ranges from Chinese favorites to German Sausages... More

Been there a few times and you have to watch what you order. Steaks can be done right, but the sauce differs in quality depending who is cooking at the moment. I have had good luck with their Shepherd pie, which was a huge serving and quite good. Almost delicious Their meat pies are decent also. Moussaka is worth ordering.... More

WE ate here a few times, the floor staff are first class, helpful and did there best with limited English. Reasonable menu but the food varies dramatically, sometimes the food is over salted, sometimes over peppered, one dish had over 40 chillis in it, I think 15 would have been sufficient as after that number then the taste of all... Best cheesecake in Beihai, Canadian Head Chef Tom was wonderful and Mark and his wife treated us like family. Also had some Dark German Draft Beer that was extremely tasty. Highly recommend William Shakespheres for a Western Style break from all the Chinese Food places :)

My husband and I were in Beihai for our anniversary and decided to try out William Shakespeare's. The decor was highly unique--Medieval Times has come to China. The English owner was nice and extremely friendly, but the food did not meet our expectations. The steak was of dubious quality. The burger was large but instead of the typical condiments was... The worst and I really mean the worst restraint experience we have ever had, food was awfully and seven of us who had differing choice from menu only managed a mouthful. Not to mention watching a rat running around and staff just ignore it like it was a pet. Give this health hazard place a wide birth. Sure any glowing... More

Passed through Beihai on our travels. Wanted to bring my wife for a nice romantic meal for our anniversary, so somebody recommended here. The decor is great. The owner greeted us and was very welcoming. But like I said, we were there for a romantic meal. That usually involves just the two of us. But the owner stood over us... More

Also I was very happy to find this restaurant. They are serving Hofbräu draught beer - also the dark beer. They also have some more bavarian beer, e.g. the black beer by Moenchshof. Menu contains both chinese and western meals, e.g. rib eye steak imported from Australia. Good place to meet more foreigners and easily make some connections. Thanks Marc!
