You can start your meal at 6 pm and the show starts at 730pm. There was a lot of choice in the food and you could order drinks, which were higher priced than you would pay elsewhere. This is a huge restaurant that seats 300...people. We were lucky enough to sit upfront because otherwise, we would not have been able to hear the music. A great many of the other customers that were there the night we were were very, very loud. They seemed to be trying to drown out the lovely music. The performance started right on time and was finished one hour later. There was a brochure at each seat explaining the dances and the instruments.More

We visited the Amazon Angkor Restaurant during our stay in Siem Reap. I was impressed by the very wide array of food. As we ate, we were entertained by traditional music n dancers - a very cultural performance that was a culmination to our visit...to Angkor Wat n the other temples.More

On my last evening in Cambodia, I chose the Amazon Angkor over the other performance venues because it was, I believed, off the main tourist path. When I arrived, however, I saw the line of buses that announced the presence of the hundreds of Chinese...visitors that I'd been seeing at the temples and other tourist destinations around Siem Reap. A bit deflated, I ventured into the Amazon Angkor to find a sparkling clean venue with attentive staff, an abundant and varied buffet, and live traditional Khmer music on the expansive stage. Right on time, the dancers emerged from backstage. They delighted the engaged audience with both whimsical and sacred choreographed stories of village life. The female 'lead' dancer was especially solemn and exquisitely accomplished. Her male counterpart was equally powerful and dramatic. The dance troupe of young male and female dancers, perhaps a few years younger than the leads, were childlike yet still quite skilled. The dancers and musicians all appeared to enjoy their performance, which made it all the more enjoyable.More

I picked this place based on the recommendation of my local host. His reasons were - cleanliness, spaciousness, variety in the buffet, good Apsara show. The place did not disappoint on any of these parameters. There was a wide variety of vegetarian dishes, and the...show picked up tempo as it moved through the five phases.More

We were here for dinner cum dance. 40 dancers, singers and musicians performed 3 Palatine and 2 village dances. This was a good display of Khmer dance. Most of these dances were performed in the court of the king. These dances expressed the joy of life....The Mekhala dance depicted the victory of good over evil. The demon was dressed in all finery while goddess Mani Mekhala was shown as a graceful danseuse. The fishermen's dance was shown with gay abandon . The last item was Apsara Ballet. It was the best. The Apsaras, who were half goddess and half women presented a sublime dance accompanied by traditional orchestra. Look out for the two special musical instruments, the Roneat Ek xylophone, made of curved bamboo strips placed on a boat shaped resonance and the Kong Thom, made of a series of bulb shaped copper gongs placed on a circular frame. The Kong Thom plays the main melody. These instruments are unique to Cambodia and presented a great sight while they were being played. I walked towards the side of the hall upfront to get closer to the instruments . It kept me spellbound. On the whole this dance program was a great example of traditional dancing in the Khmer style , full of the rich cultural heritage of Cambodia. The dinner buffet was a spread of Khmer cuisine along with Japanese, vietnamese, Chinese and western dishes. The dinner spread was not as tasty as they were advertised. But all this was compensated by the dance performance.More

Great buffet style dinner with a lot of options from all over Asia. Definitely go outside for the BBQ! If you're curious during the show I strongly suggest going to the temples first and the national museum to get a better frame of reference. Wine...with your meal is highly recommendedMore

Went to Amazon to watch an Aspara show, not disappointed apart from 1 or 2 dancers who lacked experience and looked like they were on their first appearance. We were amazed by their strength, elegance and costumes. Good choice of food on the buffet but...average taste altogether. The show was rather spoiled at the end when onlookers were allowed to jump on stage for a photo opportunity! The (female) dancers standing there waiting like objects, no respect for their tremendous dance skills. This should not be allowed in my opinion.More
