Picture this: local food that you can love and trust and a genuine smile that’s impossible not to love! This is what to expect from Sambo, the small place that the passionate Sokha and her family created for us to have the best experience in Cambodia. Be ready to feel at home and be welcomed with the best Khmer dishes and some extraordinary Thai treats. The prices are just right (less than 5$ for a dish), so make sure you tip accordingly to the excellent service. Pictures included for every dish help a lot in choosing what to eat. My expectation, in 5 years this will be one of the biggest restaurants in town with a bigger building, let’s see, given they’ve only open 4 months ago, this small local restaurant is a true gold mine and the best place to eat at in Siem Reap!

A welcoming host who offered dishes that were very good value and the mains all included rice as standard. Drinks were also reasonably priced. A queue building up outside as we left is testimony to this. A genuinely enjoyable night out.

Really good, fresh Khmer and Thai food. The best we’ve had in Cambodia. We loved it so much that we visited twice. We tried the vegetable and chicken amok, vegetable spring rolls, chicken satay, chicken noodles and vegetable cashew nuts.. every dish was perfect, well portioned and a good price.
The owner is also super friendly, more than happy to help and makes time to talk to her customers. Can be a little busy in the evening so may need to book or get there early but definitely worth a visit.

Hi popped in again at Sambo Restaurant on Friday night ordered the Masaman Chicken Curry and also Papaya Salad with extra spicy chilli, the Curry was cooked perfectly with the vegetables not overcooked and great taste i ordered extra spicy and the same with the Papaya Salad or Somtam as they call it in Thailand, you can ask for it not spicy or spicy up to you i always ask spicy.
Sambo restaurant is a family run restaurant and one of the best in Siem Reap, you are always greeted with a warm smile when you arrive. another nice thing about Sambo restaurant is you all get your food at the same time if your in a group, not many restaurant do that in Siem Reap, and also the food here is great value for money too. Go check it out Highly Recommended..

Hi went to Sambo Restaurant the other night and ordered my regular Chicken Red Curry, i have had chicken red curry at a lot of restaurants in Cambodia, but the best one by far is the one i regular have at Sambo- Khmer & Thai Restaurant, everything cooked to perfection and also a generous portion of Rice with the Red Curry dish too.
Sambo Restaurant is by far one of the best Restaurants in Siem Reap and the Prices are very good too.
The Staff are all Pleasant also, and if You are with a group of people you will all get your food at the same time served too you, a lot of restaurants just don't do that in Cambodia. Go check it out for yourself, highly recommended restaurant in Siem Reap from me.

A real gem with authentic Thai food with all it’s fresh and spicy flavours. The restaurant is owned and served by wonderful ladies, who make it a point to make a personal connection with the guests. This is not a fancy restaurant, but it’s quiet clean and remarkably good value for the quality of food they serve. Come here for a taste of authentic Thai food in this lovely city and you will be hooked. Please note that you should book ahead as it’s very popular, I had to go without on my second visit as it was full and reservations later that eve as well. The kitchen is small so the food will take its time to be served, but it’s a cool and comfortable place to wait over a beer or a glass of wine.

Had spring rolls for starter and paneang for main. Food plus 2 beers was 6.50$
Great service by this (I assume) family driven restaurant. The kids do their best. I admire theese kind of restaurants.

Great food and service, my wife and I dined here twice while staying in Siem Reap.
Very tasty Khmer food at a very reasonable price, great options to add any protein you desire to any of the dishes.

We didn’t wait, but we got there at 11:30, 15 minutes before the rush. If there’s a wait... WAIT.
The lemon smoothie and mango shakes were on point, the bok choy was bangin, the fish amok was solid, and the fried pork was my favorite.
The best part of the whole experience, though, was our waitress. I don’t know what her routine is everyday, but she is probably the most wonderful person we’ve come across in Southeast Asia. I want to be her friend.

Sambo was recommended to us by Siem Reap expats and we weren’t disappointed! The staff is very welcoming and communication is easy, service is efficient and friendly, and the food is great. Whether you’re craving Khmer or Thai, there’s enough choice on the menu to satisfy curry, noodles, stir fry, soups or salad envies. Most dishes can be ordered without meat or seafood making Sambo a good option for vegetarians. Quality of ingredients is good and everything is tasty. The kitchen staff was trained in Thailand so they know how to cook proper Thai (don’tt hesitate to ask for more Chili if you need Thai spicy food). We ate there regularly in March-April-May 2020 when Siem Reap was deserted by the tourists so our experience is probably more quiet than usual but all in all I’m always happy to eat there.

Sambo is the best choice if you search for an authentic meal with great and friendly service in the area! We stayed 4 nights in Siem Reap and ended up eating our dinner each night @ Sambo. Sokha (the owner) has a great personality and takes time talking to each customer in a very friendly and authentic way. You feel welcomed all the time. The food is just soooo good (doesn’t matter what you are having, everything is delicious- if you are in the mood for thai try masaman, - but also the Khmer dishes are extraordinarily good) and if this is not enough of a review to send you there the prices are extremely fair, if not to say almost to good to be true. 100/100 points. You won‘t be disappointed! Enjoy your meal!

I hate writing negative reviews but...We tried this place after it first opened. The service was painfully slow but I wrote it off because they were new. Tried again tonight, months later. Same thing. First, they had no seafood although it is advertised all over the menu. We ordered anyway. After waiting 20 minutes they came to let us know that they couldn’t make one of the dishes we had ordered. There was only one other family in the restaurant who were there when we arrived. The never were served while we were there. We finally just paid for our drinks and left. No apology or any recognition that there was a problem. We went down the road to a place that served us within 5 minutes of ordering. They had the seafood as well.

Unfortunately during this difficult time various suppliers are
scaling back or are still closed which may effect our general menu.
Our food is cooked as required using fresh ingredients ensuring

I had the stir fried veggies with chicken and my wife had the chicken with mushrooms. Both were delicious and the meal was cheap. Also, even though the day was very hot the fans on the ceiling kept us cool. We'd go here again.

I've been to Sambo twice now and am already looking forward to my third visit. You will be greeted with a warm welcoming smile everytime! The dishes I've tried have been very good and such generation portion sizes for the price. I want to learn how to make their Pad Thai it was so delicious! A nice hidden gem just outside the hustle and bustle of the centre.

This is a real Cambodian gen! If you want fast food, go to McDonalds. Each dish is prepared fresh and separately for each person. If you want to eat and run, then go to McDonalds. I am a Westerner living here and have come to love the excellent food and frendly staff of Sambo. Don't pass up the chance to experience what Cambodian food culture has to offer. You'll not be disapointed unless you want to gulp down your food and rush off. If that is not you, then you'll love Sambo.
