I stopped here for my last meal in Siem Reap before heading off to the airport the following morning. It is situated on the same side of the rive as my hotel and just down the road, literally a five minute walk. The place was...not full by any means and I was offered a table in the corner just opposite a group of French males entertaining a Cambodian and talking about a forthcoming business deal. I ordered the spring rolls and a medium rare steak with a bottle of Angkor beer. This was definitely themes expensive meal I had all holiday and cost about $25 for the lot. The starters were great, but there was just too many of them. In the UK when you order Spring Rolls you will often get served two medium sized ones. At this restaurant I was served eight small ones. I ate half of them but had to leave the rest. The waited looked very surprised and asked of everything was ok. I had to explain that there was just too much and if I ate any more I wouldn't have been able to eat my mains. The steak was a little overcooked because there was hardly any blood, but it tasted lovely with a side of salad and fried and a lovely Bernaise sauce. I was interested in listening to the conversation on the table opposite where these businessmen were tying to get this local businesswoman to try some French cheeses that were on the menu. Was it worth the effort. Well the food was great, like everything else in Cambodia. Although after I left I walked along to Pub Street and found loads of these little local eateries down by the river cooking street food to customers sat on plastic chairs eating from cardboard plates using plastic cutlery. With hindsight I would have preferred the latter, if only for the experience although I am not complaining about the food served here because was first rate.More
