This is one of my favorite spots so this isn't easy to write, but the service and quality of food have gone way down recently. I noticed the last time I ordered that it took quite a while for them to complete my order, so...when I ordered tonight...I decided to arrive at the end of my 30-minute pickup window just to make sure they had enough time to prepare. I arrive. No one is greeting the guests upfront. Those who were waiting on pickup orders had to push past those waiting for a table which was awkward and uncomfortable. They tell me immediately my order isn't ready, but I'm not really shocked and decided to try and be patient. I paid for my order and waited an additional 20 minutes before one of the servers told me my order still wasn't ready and they were waiting on one last roll. Meantime, I'm watching them sit other people, serve other people and pack up other to go orders. I am the only one waiting for a pick up order at this point. Finally at 30 minutes past my arrival and 90 minutes past my order time, I stand up and start complaining. One gentleman rushes over and looks concerned but didn't offer to do anything besides yell at the line cook. I asked if they would take money off my bill, which he claimed he would but I was still looking at a 25 minutes ride home and didn't want to deal with the hassle of staying any longer. If you decide to give this place a shot, in person or otherwise...expect SLOW SERVICE and LONG WAITS. Also, don't be surprised if you show up and no one notices you or cares to help. Additionally, the food quality has changed. The ginger dressing is different, not as good and the fish did not taste fresh.More

It’s my favorite sushi restaurant. I stayed eating here around 7 years ago. The owner is very nice and the woman who works there most of the time is always so sweet and cheerful.

I have limited experience with Korean food. I enjoyed the barbecue shorts ribs. Everything was well prepared. For the portion, I thought price was a couple dollars high; however, everything tasted great.

When the clientele is more than 50% east Asian, you know you're in a good place. The sushi and tempura was excellent but the bar service was a bit eccentric because the wait staff could not serve distilled spirits at linch and the white wine...was served at room temperature. Korean dishesMore

A husband and wife run the 2 Nagomi Sushi restaurants in Ann Arbor. I prefer the ambiance of the North Campus location, and probably eat in or get take out at least once a week. Their prices are reasonable, the quality and variety are excellent,...and on Thursdays there's live jazz that pairs especially well with food, hot sake, and friends. For a smooth, mellow experience. I love the Miso Ramen and the Agedashi Tofu appetizer. My favorite rolls would be the Salmon on the Beach, the Wolverine, the California and the spicy tuna. There is a huge selection. The only drawback to this place is the service. The female owner is one of the best servers I've ever seen, but her American floor staff are not as meticulous or attentive, and oddly, they are all somewhat shy and unassertive. The restaurant hired a few new servers in 2018, and service seems to be improving somewhat.More

On Saturday Sept 16, 2017 around 3:00 PM kitchen was closed 3-5 at a nearby Indian restaurant. Our U of M daughter said she had had "OK" sushi at "Nagomi Sushi" so we gave it a try. Was NOT "OK" for our mid afternoon lunch....See attached photo of Sushi we left uneaten, we were hungry too. The Sushi Regular contained squid nigiri that was so tough as to be inedible and fishy too. See the chewed up and spit out mass in the photo just below the soy dipping bowl. Another nigiri had a chunk of fish equally unappetizing. Was not close to having been sliced by a skilled sushi chef as expected. We were told by our server that the owners were Korean which explains the Bulgogi and Bibimbap. I had the former and my wife the Bibimbap. The Bulgogi had pieces of gristle, inedible and spit into a napkin. The egg on top was like scrambled eggs and the dish mostly rice. The Bibimbap at least had it's egg recognizable as a whole egg but the dish was otherwise mostly rice with few vegetables. The best thing about the two Korean dishes was the tasty hot red colored Korean sauce we added to render them edible. Remember we were hungry. Perhaps our error was expecting good food at 3:00 in the afternoon in Ann Arbor on a game day ? Was there no real chef in the kitchen and someone cobbled up and served whatever they could scrounge ? Recall my daughter had said it was "OK" the last time she had eaten at Nagomi Sushi. Not on Sept 16, 2017. We won't waste our money and appetites on this place again.More

The food was very good: We ordered a firecracker roll, a Yakitori bowl, and an appetizer of shrimp shumai. All of the food was delicious. The servers were welcoming, friendly and gracious -- with the exception of our rude waitress. When she took orders I...asked a question about the tuna tatami: she pointed to a picture on the menu. When I asked a second question she just walked away. Language skills were not an issue since she spoke English as if born in the US. Were it not for this unpleasant interaction, I would have described our overall experience as excellent.More

We were in Ann Arbor over the weekend. My sister recommended Nagomi Sushi & Noodle. We were seated quickly but it took the wait staff about 5 minutes get our drink orders even though there were 3 wait staff standing around. They had a bar...so my husband asked for a vodka and soda. The server did not know what that was. She first looked at the alcohol at the bar and asked my husband if they had vodka. Then she asked my husband how to make a vodka with soda. He told her how to make one. She came back a few minutes later with a water glass and a high ball glass and asked him which glass should she use and how much vodka she should put in the drink. My husband noticed how dirty each glass was and decided on a beer instead. I ordered an ice tea. It was very watered down and really just tasted like water that looked a little brown. The Waitress that took our food order seemed to be just as clueless as the waitress that took our drink order. She did not seem to know what was actually on the menu when we ordered the items. We ordered an Asparagus roll, Spicy Yellow Tail roll, Prince Roll, Rainbow roll, Hamachi, and Ebi. At every sushi restaurant I have ever gone to when you get an order of sushi it is usually 2 pieces per order. Well not at Nagomi. Only one piece per order. There was no soup, salad or edamame included with our meal. Needless to say we were not happy with our experience at Nagomi and would never return and never recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Ann Arbor. The food was nothing to write home about but the straw that broke the camel’s back for me was when I saw the sushi chef pick up the dirty rug to shake it out and move it and then went back to preparing sushi for other customers.More

This is a great little place - we went here because it's a consistent favorite of my niece and her husband who live quite close by. We had a group of six last night and they sat us quickly. The service was quick, friendly and...efficient. The sushi was awesome. We had the tempura and avocado bowl as an appetizer - fabulous. In fact, that avocado bowl could be a light dinner or snack. We then split 4 rolls between six of us - it was plenty of food. I think my favorite was the Lava Roll, but the Nagomi was also very good. They were also able to accommodate my request to use soy paper instead of seaweed :-). Yay!! Plenty of free parking and very relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.More

I visited the new location on Liberty in Downtown Ann Arbor with a friend last night. It is currently Ann Arbor Restaurant Week and a chance for Nagomi's new location to make a good impression on new customers. They did anything but. When we arrived...we sat at the bar and got menus from the hostess (7pm). There was a large carafe of water on the table, but no glasses were brought until we requested them an hour later. The Restaurant Week dinner menu (2 for $28) was unclear; some items listed were per person and others had to be shared. We placed our order the first time the server greeted us (7:10pm), and my friend's soup came quickly. My salad, however, was nowhere to be seen. After 20 minutes (7:30pm), I asked another server where it was and she brought it (ours was nowhere around and hadn't been checking in with us). I had to ask for a fork and/or chopsticks to eat with. Fifteen minutes later (7:45), after being at the restaurant for 45 minutes, our first appetizer to share came. The waitress brought the wrong one and had to ask again what we had ordered. This was a chicken skewer, with two tiny pieces of chicken breast on it. The meat was hot, tender, and juicy. Ten minutes later (7:55pm) the second appetizer arrived, shrimp dumplings. These were cold (not even lukewarm). There were three of them to share among two of us and we had to ask for a knife. Ten minutes after that (8:05), the first part of our entree arrived. My friend and I each got the "special roll," which was spicy tuna. Although it was only 6 pieces, it was good. Soy sauce dispensers were on the table, but no dipping dishes were provided. One hour and 20 minutes after sitting down at the restaurant (8:20pm), my entree arrived. My friends did not, however, and we had both ordered the same thing. Again, everything was cold (teriyaki beef, potatoes, and stirfried vegetables). I had to ask for napkins. I inhaled my food in 10 minutes as I was absolutely starving and had somewhere I should've already been (8:30pm by this point). I shared some of my food with my friend as she was obviously very hungry also and her entree had still not arrived. I had to leave (disappointed that I couldn't stay for the dessert, mochi ice cream which was included in the set price) and apologized profusely to my friend. She stayed and waited for her meal. I asked if she could get the bill and I could pay her back the next time we saw each other. My friend's meal didn't arrive until 8:50, a full 30 minutes later than mine. At this point she asked for a to-go box. She refused to wait any longer for the dessert since neither of us had any patience left to give. Luckily, the server only charged her for one person ($14 instead of $28), but honestly it wasn't even worth that. My friend finally left the restaurant 2 hours after arriving, to-go box in hand to microwave at home. Although Nagomi has been around on North Campus for years, this was my first experience dining with them, and needless to say it was also my last. I would definitely NOT recommend this restaurant, at least until they get their act together and can provide decent service.More
